Default Electric locking rear diff

On my 2011 my rear diff locker can only be engaged when im in 4x4. I noticed on my friends 2012 and my grandpas 2013 you can also lock it while in 2 wheel drive. Is there anyway a guy can do something to mine so I can lock it while in 2 wheel?

It will work in 2wd if you install a Raptor TCCM and 4x4 switch.

Just went and turned my 2012 on in 2wd. Not sure when ford changed it. Sounds funny that a 2011 will not engage in 2wd. Might have a bad switch?.

They changed it in 2012.

The TCCM is located above the passenger side fuse box. The trim piece that a passenger's foot would rest near must come up, and I think it (the TCCM) is held in with 8mm bolts. 1/4" ratchet with a wobble and an extension should do it.

It's harder to put it back in than to take it out. Some guys use 3M Velcro to affix the new TCCM to the old one. I just replaced it. The switch is a direct replacement. Both changes are easy plug&plays.

Be careful removing that trim piece, as I took about a 1/4" chunk out of my pinky when I did it. Still has a nice groove over a year later.

Hella worth it! Cost me

Will those parts for a 2011 also work on a 2010 fx4 w/3.73 gears?

As this is my first truck I have ever owned. I have a 2011 and I am taking in as much info as possible so I can learn and enjoy this truck like I have with all my cars.

Would someone mind explaining what you all are talking about when you say you want to lock them in 2WD ? And what switch are you taking about pulling out ? The one on the dash that you switch from 2WD to 4WD ? I know where the part is on the passenger side by the fuse box because I replaced my door checks to the moded middle position ones.

I think I did try to pull out on the **** on the dash but it did not pull out. I have a Canadian truck BTW.

Sorry to be so non educated about these trucks so don't kill me, I am very interested to get to know these things.

Thanks for any help !

That I'm not sure of. I've heard of issues losing 4LOW when doing this mod. If the 2010 TCCM part # is the same as that for the 2011, I don't see why not. Might not be the easiest way to check, but TascaParts.com will have part numbers for both.

I know I had an issue once with the truck not unlocking the rear end. That could've been a major issue. Restarted the truck and it finally unlocked it after playing with the switch a couple times.
