They sound nice on the right vehicle, but because the valve motion is controlled with electric motors and they are inline with a super HOT exhaust, the motors tend to fail after 2-3 years.

I disagree with boosted150. Having held and used these units they seem very durable and the motor is positioned far enough away from the heat.

The car I had it on was a very built supercharged cobalt, 21lbs of boost, headers, etc. I had EGTs of around 1200 after a few passes, hard runs and the QTP unit never failed or showed any weakness.

Price varies signifcantly between vendors and piping size I found, but I got mine for $185, 5 years ago. They seem to be about that now just from giving it a quick Google.

It will do what you want, give you the luxury of silence most of the time, but be really fun when you want that instead.

Okay, so all this talking about it set me over the edge. I just ordered one for the truck. After riding around the the exhaust unbolted for the last week, Ill be happy with noise on demand. Ill let you know how it works out on the truck, but i expect the same results as the cobalt.

I was just wondering how good/durable these valves were, how long they last before they start leaking and sound loud all the time. If its what your cousin had why didnt he just flip it back to quiet when you see the cop, no ticket then!

about 365 bucks for a pair of them, 175 a piece i believe. i'm pretty sure you could find it cheaper.

the second vid, will give you a better idea.

I paid $212 shipped and all, but that also included a SS Y pipe, plate to mount it to, and a SS diverter that points it to the ground. I assume if you can put a pipe on the other side, you can also finish that piping and put and entire nothing exhaust system as you described. Whats the difference between having it went down, or straight back, point being that you can mount another pipe over the cutout.

I just didn't think it would be a good idea to vent it under the truck for a multitude of reasons, much better to pipe it out the back or side i would think

Theres tons of room. Keep in mind aftermarket mufflers like flowmaster and such are much much smaller than the stock muffler. Plus the muffler can be anwhere along the piping, not necessarily at the end.

I run the DMH cut out on the Raptor. I love it..Sounds awesome with the 6.2. No issues at all.
