I'm a bit fanatic. I run Pennzoil Ultra 5w20. I change is when the oil life percentage goes below 30%. I get a used oil analysis after EVERY oil change and file them. It's a good record of mileage at oil change and will help with trend analysis if there is ever an issue with the engine. People will say I'm a fool, but I'm a fool who covers his ***.

I changed my oil yesterday with full synthetic and I don't know if it's just me seeing things but I think I might have a little higher oil pressure now. I don't have a digital gauge but it does seem to be slightly higher.

Oil pressure gauge is nearly useless on our trucks. It goes to a pre-set spot when you start the truck and never moves. It's not a "real-time" gauge. It will only move if you lose all pressure; then it will drop to 0.
Try revving your engine really high and watch the needle.

Thanks for that. It did not seem right to me.

I use Motorcraft 5w-20 syn blend. I have the dealership change my oil since the price I pay is just slightly more than what I would pay for just the oil and filter. I changed my oil this last time but for the price and time spent, it was cheaper for the dealership to do it. I asked about using full syn oil and the price was significantly more, I pay around $41 with taxes for the syn blend and would have cost close to $70 for the full syn. If I end up putting in full syn I'll be doing my own oil changes.

Had 1st oil change last week, my 5.0 and used << 1/2 quart at 4000 miles. replaced with semi syn motorcraft 5w20. I was hoping for less oil use but it is what it is unless it gets worse.

The oil pressure gauges on these trucks are dummy gauges. They don't read changes in oil pressure like the GM oil gauges.

Really with a full synthetic like Royal Purple or Amsoil you would see a slight drop in oil pressure because of it's lower frictional coefficient. Also, with better cold flow properties, cold idle pressure will most likely be the greatest difference you are seeing.
