Hopefully you found the issue and got it resolved, but here's another reporting the plug gap fixed somewhat similar issues to yours.

While out running errands this morning, called my dealer and asked for a plug change. They installed SP-534s gapped at .31. The tech said a couple of the plugs were about done. Of the 5 I got back I had one at .040, one at .039 and 2 at .038. The other was undetermined as it had been dropped and the contacts were touching. Smoother idle and stronger on hills now. I don't plan to tow for a few weeks, but I think the problem is fixed.

Thanks, I have given my info to Ashley-Ford Service, I asked the dealer to pull/check plug gaps and they didn't do it. I still believe my issue is in the coils/plugs but the computer says everything looks good so the dealer cant do a thing. I got a warranty and shouldn't have to pay $12.50 a plug and replace them myself. I spent enough money on this truck and the ESP, the dealer/Ford need to fix my truck at there cost. Thanks again for the thread, I agree with you it could be a plug.

I hear you as after the second time bringing mine in for the rough idle and they wouldn't even check the plugs I was tired of wasting my breath and just did it myself and sure enough they were out so re-gapped and now it runs better. Oh and I have the ESP that is like 6 yrs 120,000....wife, otherwise I would have just left the standard factory, short of having issues near the 36 mark.
Granted I am guilty of it too at times, but far too many people 'well the computer says it's fine'...

All of us have read numerous stories about misfire's related to spark plug gap, so it has to be an issue with more than this forum's group, all the dealer has to do is call the tech department and request permission to inspect/regap the plugs and they will get paid for it. I would almost bet if the tech called in with your complaint that would be the first thing they would tell him to check. We all know warranty work doesn't pay as much as flat rate but it still pays and it will help you retain customers in the long run. I wonder how some of these dealerships have stayed open this long.

It 'scalled DEALERSHIP for a reason. They SELL new trucks and cars, parts and accessories, and extended warranties, you know...

What good is extended warranty if they can't diagnose the misfire?

I'm planing an ecoboost road trip (~5k) hoping it won't turn into ecobust one!
