Ecoboost w/ 35" MPG
#22
I had the stock Goodyear ATs that came with the off-road package on my 13 and was averaging about 17.5 in mixed driving. I went up to 275/70r 18 BFGs (33s) and I'm seeing about 15.5 in the city. Haven't taken a highway trip yet. I'd say I lost about 1-2 mpg. Super crew with 3.55 gears.
In my experience with my last two trucks (Tacoma and this F150), it seems to me the speedo is off from the manufacturer very slightly, making the mpg calculation better than it really is. In my Tacoma, once I went up one tire size, the speedo was actually dead on accurate. I know that for certain based on my gps readouts of speed. I believe it was the same with my f150, but I was never 100% certain.
The long and short of it is....if you go with 35s, I don't see any way you'll be in the 18 mpg range. I'd say combined you'd be VERY lucky to get 15.

131k miles on the truck, all stock, and engine no mods. except for a cheap Fram air filter. It's a great truck I'm still impressed by it.

Yes, it does guzzle gas when you get into it too much. They shouldn't have ever marketed this truck as more efficient. More powerful, yes. Definitely not more efficient. If someone is buying it for efficiency, they're buying it for the wrong reason.

And to be fair, the EPA only rated it like 1mpg more than the V8 didn't it? It's not like this was a secret.
