I think the pedal to the floor is a result of the extra pressure needed to stop. You will be stomping on the pedal with everything you got and it'll feel like the truck isn't stopping. The first time it happened to me I was pulling into the service bay at the dealer. I was shaking it scared me so bad.

Hi everyone,

Don't forget that I'm here to help. If you're having issues with your vacuum pump, get in to your dealership so they can diagnose. After your appointment, send a PM my way if you need assistance and I'll see what I can do. Be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

Good idea, gouldje; keep us posted on what you find out. What's the current mileage on your truck?

When it fails does the pedal to the floor or do you need tons more pressure to get the truck to stop?

Drops to the floor, just like you blew an old school brake line. Actually when my truck did it at 14k, I though that that was what happened.i stomped on the ebrake then jumped out looking for the oil mess to be in my driveway.

For those out of warranty, we have used the GM version from the 3.6L V6 platforms with great success long term. But if in warranty, follow Crystal's advice.

i am at 41k which out of warrenty, i did take it last year for issue and they performed a tsb for some brake recall, but it didn't fix this issue. But i noticed once the weather got cold (northeast) the problem seemed to go away untill warmer weather. I have a pretty good relationship with Browns Ford of amsterdam ny and i will see what they say. It is a big safety hazzard and untill i get it fixed i will not let my wife or anyone else drive.
just made apt. spoke to Seth, he is aware of issue with vac. pumps.

Thanks guys. Scary that the pedal drops to the floor when the pump goes out. If mine starts singing I'll definitely not wait to fix it.

Sounds like you have a great dealership, gouldje. If you need my help after you get a diagnosis, PM me your specifics and I'll see what I can do. In your message, include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

2012 FX4 with 67 k on the clock. The pump has been acting up for the last 3 k miles, I took it to the dealer to have them check it out while I had tires put on. They told me exactly what everyone is saying on here, 650 for the pump plus another 200 for labor.

Ford needs to stand up and own this one. too many identical issues with these pumps and they changed it for the 2014 model year.

I could see if the truck had 100-150k on it; but 67k is a little early considering a majority of them are highway miles.
