Got truck back from ford today. They said could not find problem. Said no such thing as reflash for ecoboost at this time. Bull sht! Called another ford dealer a mechanic told me a ecoboost came in had loose intake bolts from factory it took them 3 weeks to figure tht one out. Also said no reflash at this time.

just my two cents on this issue. i have not experienced this condition yet, 2011 lariat ecoboost 4wd. but when i bought my truck, my salesman told me when extremely hot outside for several days to run premium gas instead of a lower octane. he told me that if i didnt i could experience vapor locking with lower octanes in hot weather.

Ambient air temp will have a significant impact on performance and power on turbo charged engines. Do you have the same problem at night when it is cooler? Not sure where you are living but in FLA it has been HOT. This will kill your engines ability to maker power. Turbo's make heat....the inter cooler can only extract so much of it. Engines like cool dense air.

2011 F150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 EB here.
The Good:
I love the truck, the performance of the EB is awesome and after the first 1,000 miles the fuel consumption seems to be in the 20's highway at 55mph. Falls off quickly on hwy's where the speedlimit is 70 and also only get 16 mpg on short stop and go commutes of ~ 6 -10 miles. But for nearly 3 tons of truck I'm happy. Reading the posts here I've seen no signs of black smoke, the idle is a bit different wouldn't call it rough just sounds like what I expected out of direct injection gas engine running lean.
The Bad:
I have experienced 2 of the problems I read about on this thread.
1) Under 1,000 miles was going up grade on a bridge that was 55 mph so cruising at 60 mph, all of a sudden the truck started to shutter or vibrate almost like I was at a natural frequency of driveline or something. I let off the throttle and it went away and have not felt it since.
2)This weird hesitation has happend about 3 times now, the first time I was going ~ 35 mph and I did not realize the lane I was in ended very quickly. I pretty much floored it. The transmission downshifted and the engine revs came up but it just hung at around 3,000 RPM and wouldn't accelerate . After about 3 seconds I let off the gas and then tapped it again and it quickly acclerated as expected. This was in first 1,000 miles and I thought may have been an engine protection strategy that came into play since I went wide open throttle. But now I have ~ 2,800 miles and this has happened two more times and what is scary is it happens when in a passing move where the engine is running at lower revs of ~ 1500 RPM, begin moderately accelerating then get to about 90% throttle input and the engine just hangs around 3000 RPM. I thought it may have been a failed downshift but trying to repeat the problem I was watching the in-gear display and the last time it happened, the trany downshifted to 2nd and as long as I held my foot down the engine would not accelerate, reminded me of a time I left the vacuum advance mistakenly disconnected after setting timing on an old Mustang.
Appreciate sharing any similar problem or results found.

Damn. Well I traded my 07 Lariat 4x4 SC 5.4 with PHP Gryphon with 2 custom tunes for AirAiad CAI and 37,000m on her for a 2011 Platinum Screw, 3.31 gears, EB. Im pretty much in love with the new truck. It has a build date of 8-2-11 so hopefully no trans pump isue. I have been reading every post I can find about the EB, and so far I have not had any problems I have read about. I do notice a slight lag from a stop when I get on her. Turbo Lag?? Im guessing. This truck beats hell out of the 07 5.4 only thing she doesnt have is the Sun roof, and Nav. Most expensive auto I have bought.

CEL, shudder, bogged down..
Same situation here. Less than 900 miles on the truck, on 290 to Houston, cruise set at 65 and had been going for about an hour, raining, went to accelerate (not WOT) to avoid traffic merging on and instantly got the shuddering and CEL flashing. Pulled to side of road (luckily, no issues) in neutral, shut it down, started back up - no problems; no CEL. Next day, on the way to work just out of the driveway I hit WOT and got the shuddering (not as violent) and CEL. Pulled off, shut down, started up, no problems and not repeatable.
It has been at the dealer for 2 days, no codes stored and they can't duplicate the problem - "if it does it again, don't shut it down and drive it in so we can check it while it's having the problem." I'm not sure how wise it is to be driving extended distances in "limp mode"...

Juggernaut
I had the same thing happen when trying to pass another car going 45, stomped on it and it felt like she just shut down, I took my foot of the pedal and pumped it, all of a sudden she went like hell. I don't know. But it did happen to me about three times, all in mid 90's and humid weather. Never got a CEL. Now I have 8k on her and it hasn't happened since.

FX4 SCrew TT'd V6
When I had my Ecoboost (sold it, buying another one after owning Mustang for a bit) I had a similar problem. Cruising for probably about 2 hours at the same speed. Went to kick it down to get around a semi, truck fell on its face, got out, back in never did that again. About 4 hours later while I town and slower traffic I went to merge quickly and it sounded like Jesus had just kicked me in the ****. Never did any of that again when I owned it.
