Not sure why people are so fixated on the intercooler opening... I'll take the extra airflow, thank you very much. I bet we hear virtually no reports of damaged intercoolers either way.

Here is the one I put on... Got it from caraid.com $39.95 with free ground shipping. I like the way it mounts flush with the front of the bumper. It uses the front license plate bracket mount holes to install. Less than 10 minutes.

A lot of people have done it because they don't like the big ugly hole in the bumper. It looks like Ford forgot to put something there.

I'd be worried abput restricting the air flow. I think it would take alot to damage the intercooler to the point of not working. If the intercooler lasted 5 or 6 years and then went out I doubt it would be anymore than 300 to get a new one. I would rather risk the intercooler vs the turbos getting to hot.

I bought a $36 one on Ebay and though I decided to slightly modify the way it mounted ( it mounts to the sides of the opening via the plastic instead of supported from the rear like what looks like Carriage Works has...)
I'm very happy with it's looks and function and price paid.

+1 on this ebay deal.
Attached with 4 zip ties and remove cover before each service. This way , no warranty BS from Ford dealer.

I think anything that is going to damage the intercooler or anything in there is going to go through most of these grills being installed anyways, I mean if a piece of concrete thats big enough to damage it comes along, is going to laugh at the grill as it smashes through.
As to airflow, the lower grill's they are showing here isnt going to stop the airflow any more, and probably alot less, than the grill over your radiator, so Im not feeling that argument either. (I have seen some lower grills out there that would, they are basicly a piece of sheet metal put there, but not the billet ones)
That being said, I think it comes down to looks as the reason to put the grill on. I myself have one on and like the look.
