Default EcoBoost Oil Change Mess!

Got my first freebie oil change at dealer yesterday. I had heard they are messy due to location of oil filter. I am sure the techs tried to clean up as much of spilled oil above skid plate as possible. Went into garage today and were a couple small spots of oil (quarter size). I got under the truck and soon realized was still oil coating tray above plate. Wiped it all up as good as possible and double checked drain plug to make sure it wasn't dripping from there. I will be doing my own changes in future and will be getting a Fumoto drain plug and hose. But any tips when removing filter to avoid this mess. Obviously poor design choice in location by Ford. But I don't want to have to remove skid plate or keep shoving my hands up in there to try and wipe it out.

Remove the square ruber plug from the skid plate, lossen the filter just enough for it to start to drain slowly, go have a sandwitch and a cold beverage of your choice while it drains. there is a 2ended plastic tray under the filter and the oil will drain from either end depending on the way the truck is sitting if its high in front the oil will drain out the back through the square hole in the skid plate or if its level out both ends. after you removee the filter just wipe out the funnel and install the new one. Note the fumoto valve is a great thing if your going to do your own service but the shops dont like them because it takes longer for the oil to drain.

I can tell you the F106 does not fit a 2012 5.0

I even emailed fumoto before I ordered it to get the right one but it did not fit. They are going to mail me an F107 and an F111 to see which one will fit. Probably the F107.

107 Fits both the 5.0 and EB motors with no adapter needed. I didn't buy directly from Fumoto, but every site I saw said it was the 107 that worked for both. Hopefully the site you bought the 106 from will fix that mistake.

Are you talking about removing and installing the air dam just for the oil change?
