Hi folks,

If you're experiencing this concern, your first step should be to make an appointment at your dealership. If you need my assistance after your truck has been diagnosed, reach out to me via PM with your specifics. I'll need your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealership info. I'll research options to help.

Thanks Crystal. I know I'm needing to do that, but finding a time when I can miss work to make it to the dealership M-F is difficult. It would be a lot easier if they would give me a loaner car since I end up waiting for their shuttle a lot. With a CPO vehicle under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, should I get a loaner vehicle?

Default 2012 EccoBoost F150 FX 4 Transmission Problem

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and have a problem. My F150 FX4 (2011 not 2012) has about 35K. I have been having problems with the truck for about 3 months. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times and they can't find the problem because they say it isn't throwing a 'code'. Sometime on takeoff at about 20 to 30 mph the truck will go out of gear. It's almost like its shifting into neutral. The RPMs will go up when I push the gas but the truck will not respond. It seems to be getting worse and is happening more often. When I talk to the service dept. They tell me to bring it by and they will see if it happens to them. I'm getting really frustrated and need to know if anyone else is having this problem.

Thanks,
Chris

Welcome to the forum. It would be best if you start your own thread, rather than posting with a similar, but different topic. That said, if there is excessive slip, it should set a trouble code. In fact, if it really is slipping, your transmission should then lock itself in a mid-low gear and go into limp mode. Has that happened?

Hi cartmanea,

The availability to loaners is dealership-specific; some have loaners available, others do not. Your best bet will be to contact the dealership's service manager so they can answer this for you.

Hi Chris,

I'll be happy to look into this to see how I can help. Just send me a private message (PM) with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership so I can best determine how to assist.

There was only one time when it happened that a service light came on in the truck. It was a wrench. When it happened the shop was closed. The next time I started the truck the wrench was gone. The dealer said that there was no record of the wrench appearing. I guess i'll have to wait until either the transmission goes out completely and I'm stranded in the middle of no where before they will do something about it. I've owned several Ford's over the years but this may be the last time I buy one.

Interesting note... I thought my 2-3 shift was pretty harsh. Occasionally causes my head to snap back under very light throttle if I'm not expecting it. Last weekend I towed for the first time and the shifting felt great with a load behind it. Trailer was only about 4k, but the trans felt great with the load under all throttle conditions. Maybe they are just set up firm to help trans life and you feel any shift timing error more when there is no load?

Im having this issue on my 2012 and am unable to find a TSB, anyone know what number it may be? I find it to happen most often when under acceleration on a grade, feels like the transmission is going to drop out from under the truck, but I havent ever been able to duplicate with service tech in my truck.

Default 2011 EccoBoost F150 FX 4 Transmission Problem

Update on my transmission. Thanks to the helpful representatives from Ford on this forum, I was contacted by a regional service manager. He contacted the dealership's service department and they rescheduled a repair appointment. I dropped if off this past Monday and that afternoon, they called me telling me they found out what the problem was. It was a wiring harness connected to the transmission. They replaced it and I got my truck the next day. So far, I haven't had a problem. This forum is really helpful!

Could you post more details? If the service writeup says which harness or connector was the issue for you it would be great. I might try to inspect mine.
