Default Ecoboost not so eco at all

So I previously had a Nissan Titan. Pulled travel trailers with is and a decant size wake board boat. Weighed almost 8k lbs with fuel and gear. A few times even towed is with Ballast full. About another 1500 lbs. Never had an issues. I did however dislike the MPG. Got around 10 when towing, 15 around town and 17 on highway.

So I sold it and was contemplating diesel or ???

Diesels seemed like the way to go but have significant additional cost up front and on maintenance.

So I looked at the EcoBoost.

Long story short. Wish I didn't. Its not Eco at all. when I first got it my first couple of tanks were great. 20-22 on highway and around 17 around town.

Well that didn't last. I know get 15 around town and 17 on the highway at BEST.

Took it to dealer "Chino Hills Ford" and started get excuses before they even looked at it. Needless to say all I got was the run around and the typical computer says it running like it should.

THIS WILL GO BACK AT THE END OF THE LEASE.

I think ford is just trying to tap into the fuel economy craze and using the name ecoboost to generate sales. And the dealers don't help.

I will go back to the titan or move to something else after I blow through the miles on the lease.

Its unfortunate because I love everything else about the truck. Hell a friend of ours get 17MPG in her raptor. I would have just gone with that had I known.

If your considering an ecoboost just be aware that actual results are all over the board. I have read about people at all end of the spectrum from bad to good.

Remember early on I got a solid 22MPG. on the last tank I got 17MPG. That was a straight shot all on highway no traffic, no A/C, . Quick on and off the highway at beginning and end of a 585 miles segment and one stop quick on and off the freeway for food and bathroom break. When I say quick I mean the place was right off the freeway right off the exit. so no starting and stopping driving.

Please give driving conditions. Speed, wind, load, traffic. I am amazed at the guys who get an Eco then bitch because it doesn't get 21 mpg at 75 mph. Almost everyone drive light at first to see those nice MPG. Hell, I got 25 mpg on one trip driving very carefully. Currently with winter gas and cold temps I'm getting 16. During the summer I get 18-19 driving locally. On interstate trips at 70 mph I get 20-22.

Give it time and keep your foot light.

I had a Titan for several years too, until I crashed it. Got stupid and went to Ford. I loved that Titan, lots of room, great power, solid, quiet, smooth in every aspect, and 19-22 mpg.

OP...you do realize that it's winter right? Not sure where you are, but anywhere that they sell winter fuel, you are gonna get crappy mileage. I'm down about 2 mpg from my usual summer driving.

Yeah, about Ford screwing everyone with the promise of better fuel economy...how dare they make a truck that gets exactly what the sticker says for MPG, those bastards. I feel for ya if you aren't/can't get the rated MPG, but I think it's pretty obvious that most ecoboost owners are pretty happy with their purchases.

I don't know why I bother responding to these threads anymore...I think I'll go do something productive now.
