drove my truck yesterday and could not get it to repeat the misfire. but it still doesnt have the throttle response like the truck the dealer gave me to drive for 3 days. also the test truck seemed to be smoother with no engine or tranny vibration.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but what rear end gear ratio does your truck have? If the dealer truck was a 3.73 and yours is taller, that could explain the slower feel of the throttle response.

You cannot get a 'taller' i.e., higher ratio gear set in this truck.
Most, it seems, are ordered with the 3.73 ratio. The truck I test drove last Sunday, was not a front-lot 'road test' vehicle; it was right out of the huge back lot of Galpin Ford in SoCal....most likely just received that week.
It had the 3.73's and only about 18 miles on the odometer, was absolutely cold at start, a lot of water vapor out the exhaust, wherein the salesman warmed it up for about 3-5 minutes. I drove it for about 30 + minutes on a variety of roadways (surface streets and freeway with an uphill grade) and it was smooth as glass and very impressive to drive in all aspects, e.g., throttle response, overall feeling of power and acceleration, etc..
It was about 70 deg. that afternoon. I have a copy of the window sticker and the build date on this truck was 03/08/12. I had my 30 year old son and 16 year old daughter with me and they concurred with my perceptions.
I would not hesitate to purchase this EB equipped truck, should I elect not to hold off; and instead, wait for the '13 with the upgraded headlight system.

i dont know what the gears were in the test truck buy mine are 3.73. the test truck throttle was so smooth, little throttle truck move accordingly, little more and starts to get into boost and lots of throttle it was like a rocket and really smooth. mine is like little throttle and doesnt move accordingly so you give it little more throttle and its gets into boost quickly and then you have to let off on throttle cause you are going to fast and coming up on the car in front of you quickly. really kind of dangerous. so please dont comment that i dont know how to drive, i race my 550hp whipple h.o. mustang and i used to race off road buggies.

12-2-10 3.5L GTDI CALIBRATION UPDATE - VARIOUS ISSUES - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/7/2012
I believe this prevents the engine light from coming on. Its hard to prove there is a problem without it.
Just my two cents.
I would not buy an ecoboost until you here these problems are fixed.
Wish I wouldn't have.
Two more cents.

Took my 2011 Eco build date is 7/11 to my ford dealer for the update. Shop manager stated he can't do the update until ford sends me update in the mail. Is this true or was he bullshi**ing me.

Two, tell him to take a moment to read the TSB. The update is for ANYONE with the misfire. There is a code requirement but only for replacing a cat converter.
