I had similar economy issues pretty much from new (2012 FX4 Screw) ... Dealer told me I had to do 20,000km before Ford would consider any economy complaints. At 20,000km dealer told me it was probably the larger towing mirrors. I put back on the factory mirrors ... Made no noticeable difference (highway speed limits around here are 70-90kmph so not exactly breaking any speed records). They then told me it was probably the winter tires which legally we have to use here Oct-Apr unless we want to risk being ticketed ... The following May I put the factory wheels/tired back on and actually the economy got worse LOL
Fast forward to 40,000km and I was getting sputtering when accelerating gently from takeoff to around 50kmph ... Dealer took it for a test drive and said it was "normal for a vehicle with leaf suspension". Problem persisted ... Dealer reset computer and was ok for 2 days then problem back. Dealer insisted nothing wrong 'cos the computer was saying there had been no misfires. Economy as bad as ever but no worse.
Fast forward to 70,000km ... Sputtering so bad I almost broke down on highway (complete lack of power). Took it to nearest dealer ... They reset computer. Fine for another couple days (best ever economy by 20% for those 2 days). However problem returned. Usual dealer said all was normal and to spec.
Fast forward to 90,000km ... Sputtering 100% of time when accelerating. Dealership mechanic went for test drive with me and experienced the issue (finally) ... Unfortunately as was no longer in the 60,000km bumper to bumper warranty period I had to pay $275 for the faulty electrical connector which was found to be the problem (something to do with the turbos). Economy immediately improved by 15%. That's a saving of about $1800/year for me.
Also had a door sensor replaced within first few months (it thought the passenger door was open) and a rear park sensor failed in year one (boy those are expensive). Front break disks skimmed as they were warped and Ford would not replace them under warranty ... That was at about 45,000km. Apparently result of overheating on a rare occasion when I towed my 7000lbs cargo trailer for 2 weeks twice daily for a total of about 200km.

In conclusion; the interior's nice, the exterior looks good, "Built Ford Tough" not so much, economy worse than 2010 5.4 V8 in my experience, power is nice but at a price. As a work/business vehicle overall cost is important ... And I'm still reserving judgement. Dealer sucks but there's only one within an hour drive.
Planned to keep this truck until at least 200,000km ... Hope it lasts ?!

Doubt if any manufacturer would warranty your brakes at 20k-plus miles.

I've got a 2011 fx4 scab Eco with 3:73 gears riding on the 20" rims. Running Michelin Ltx ms2 tires. The truck has 83 k on the odometer as of today. The on board computer says i have averaged 18.4 mpg combined driving. City I normally see 16 mpg and 20-23 highway. For a 4x4 with a constant 300-400lbs in the bed I can't complain. The power is always ready and waiting and it seems to just be getting better with age. And the mpg for city and highway are by hand calculations. The computer was low balling me by .3 mpg on avg. So far no complaints and couldn't ask for a better truck!

They should've put that electrical connector for your turbo in under your drivetrain warranty. I just had a sensor, for my DBW system which was near the gas pedal, replaced under warranty and I'm at 78000 km.

I agree ... They refused saying Ford would not let them.

I'd say in my experience the fuel mileage is way better thn the v8! I'll never buy another engine/truck combo! Gof for it, you won't regret it

Easy there, killer. I own both an '13 EB XLT 4X4, 3.55 gears - AND a '12 R/T Charger. Agreed that the EB is fast for a truck - but its not about to keep up with the charger...

Without talking to Ford about it first?

Liars... they just didn't want to make the effort to offer "customer service".

Indeed! To put this in perspective ... Same dealer did the last service at 92,000km. Not only didn't they give me a report showing what they had done for the major service but also the breaks were spongy and ineffective when I got it back from service. I took it back the next day ... Took the mechanic out for a test drive. He said it appeared the ABS was kicking in for no apparent reason so they would need to investigate that. It was left there for another 3 days during which time they said they had taken it for another test drive each day and there was nothing wrong so they didn't do anything. Literally within 20 feet of them dropping it off at my home and me parking it in my garage did I see the problem again. I haven't even bothered to call them again as it's a complete waste of time as I need to spend my days earning a living not running back and forth to the dealer. When I get a chance I'll take it to a different dealer in the city. I guess only having spent around $175,000 on vehicles over the last 7 years from this dealer means I'm not worth giving decent customer service!! I wonder what I have to spend to get good service??? Having said this we just recently purchased a new Subaru for my partner as same dealer lied to us about the specs of an Escape we tested (and were close to signing for) so clearly their sales dept are as hopeless as the service dept. Ok rant over ;-). I still like Ford. I still like Ford. I still like Ford. My father drove Fords for 35 years so I'll put up with a lot of crap before I switch.

Squamish is a small town a bit of a ways from the city. They know that many won't make the drive to Vancouver, and so, feel like they can get away with anything they want.

Get hold of the area rep and tell him/her what you think of their tactics.

But look on the bright side: the Sea-To-Sky highway is such a pretty drive!

How true. It is indeed a beautiful wee spot ;-) On a positive I only have one more service left under the prepaid maintenance package (which I will drive to the city for) and then I'll take it to a local mechanic who I take other vehicles to. I always try to support local but for sure if I ever purchase another Ford it will not be bought locally.
