Plug Replacement
I was getting 13-15 in my 2011 XLT 4x4 3.5L Screw. I replaced my old plugs gapped at .044 with the SP-534 gapped at .030. The results were an instant 2-3 mile increase in MPG. I would also advise trying to keep your RPMs under 2k when possible. Currently I am getting 16 city and 20 hwy, with a combined 17-18 daily drive.

I think this started out as a Limited that got poor fuel economy? Does anyone have a Limited that is getting the higher fuel ecomomy numbers? I'm also getting around 15.0 mpg lifetime with 5000 miles on mine now. I'm wondering since most of the limited's in this thread are getting very close to that if it is not the nature of the beast on how these trucks are spec'd as a Limited? I can see a lot of truth to the rim/tire combo, gears, weight, etc that are common to the Limited.
truck in my signature has yielded 13.1 mpg lifetime. has 7500 miles and was bought Oct.1 last year.

I'm getting around 16-17 in the city and 21-22 highway. I suppose that's not bad...

Okay now I don't feel so bad... I bought a 2013 FX4 new in Jan and have put just over 5,000 miles on it - no current mods, crew cab, 5.5' bed, 3.5L EcoBoost. My overall avg mpg had been hovering around 16.9 for a while, which seemed good considering A) it's winter in New England, and a bad one at that, and B) most of my driving is the commute to work and my barn - each are 40 mile round trips, I take the 'back way' averaging 35-45mph, and there's a decent amount of stop & go spots/stop lights/school buses/etc.
Now I know the 17 city/21 hwy mpg rating is based on 'ideal' driving conditions/habits/etc. plus the dealer made some comment to me, after signing the papers of course, along the lines that "it'll take a year to reach the avg mpg on the sticker" - um sure okay? Also still planning on adding a tonneau cover.
Recently I took a couple trips out the MA Pike (~160 miles) and NY Thruway (~640 miles) and this was where I expected to see a difference given that each would be 80-90% highway. I was a tad disappointed when on the 160 mile drive my trip mpg barely reached 17, but even more disappointed when the trip mpg DROPPED to about 15.3 on the first leg of my 640 mile drive Granted, I'll say the wind was horrible when I headed out to NY, but I guess I didn't expect it to have that much impact. It did improve on the way home, but still not to where I had hoped.
If I fill up then take the back way to work my trip mpg gets up over 18, and my overall average has slowlyyy climbed to 17.3. So given the other posts I've read through, I'm realizing I should quit my complaining Curious to see if it all levels out in a year like the dealer claimed.
Also curious to see what happens when I haul with it. Haven't yet but will be this weekend, my trailer weighs 3000lbs empty, rated for 7000lbs, but in reality ends up being about 4500-5000lbs when all is said and done.

So basically to improve fuel economy in my brand new almost 60K 2013 Limited i need to:
Drive Slow (i dont think I ever go above 70)
Use Cruise Control
Don't use the A/C/ heated seats etc..
I'm actually insulted FORD would even put this on their website or even in this thread, heres the deal, the truck gets about 15.0MPG no matter what the situation, in the city, on the highway whatever, it started out at about 13.5 when purchased with 5 miles on the odometer and over the last 6 months had stayed at 15.0. I dont see this changing and it is what it is, FORD needs to stop telling people these ridiculous driving tips, they just need to admit the truck gets bad gas mileage. And i live in Florida, where its flat and the weather is nice, i suspect most would get worse up North or in worse conditions. Either way I still love my truck as i traded in my M3 BMW which got horrible gas mileage so im used to it, i just assumed when i bought a V6 i would see close to what the sticker said but that is far from the case at least in my situation.
