EcoBeast? Really? I was hoping that would stay an unofficial name among ecoboost owners. Yuck.

I think Ford will TT the 5.0 and use it as an alternative the the diesels in the F250's on up.

"Ford just filed a patent to trademark the EcoBeast moniker, which sounds to us like an all-powerful, turbocharged version of the standard EcoBoost engine."

Ooh, a turbocharged EcoBoost? Finally! Stupid journalist.

Guys you don't file a "patent" for a trade name, two completely different beast. Now a five hundred hp, 500 fbt no doubt would be a lot of fun.

that would be a good powerplant option for a heavier F250.

Well being as Fiat (for ram, which fiat owns in case you didn't know) took the ecodiesel name, ford might just be covering their tracks for future possibilities before other manufactures take it.

However, we know that the 5.0 heads were designed from the get go for DI and boosted applications meaning it could easily be for the 5.0, but I wouldn't discount a pumped up 3.5 either.
