Default Switching out gears.

I am confused, stage 3 motorsports is showing a graph using tire size and gear ratios. My 2013 fx4 currently has 3.55 gears but i just put on 35" tires. I can feel the difference in power or lack of i should say. My question is, people with the same tire size, what gears are you running and why? Do both the front gears and rear gears need to match? I do not tow anything and i do not haul anything. Just want my power back on take off and restore "some" of my gas mileage. Thanks! And sorry if this has been posted before.

Heres is the link to the graph i was talking about. Bottom of page.

Yes front and rear gears have to be changed together unless you only want to run in 2wd.

What would be the better option with a 6" lift on 35" tires? Ive looked online for a set of both front and rear and cant find them.

Most people with 35s tend to run 4.56s, but 4.10s are good too, the price difference is to close to not go 4.56, but if you do a lot of highway, you may consider 4.10s.

If it means anything I plan on going 4.10s when I put my 275/70-18s on.

Id say 85% highway and the rest in town and around. Will the 4.10s give me back my power from a dead stop and keep me from downshifting on small inclines? Ive noticed that it will switch back and fourth between fifth amd sixth gear quite a bit.

Have you put a tune on your truck. My 2012 fx4 with 6 inch lift and very aggressive 35s I didn't notice that big of a difference in power. I am tuned with 5 star custom tune though. My gearing is the 3.73 which does help. 4.10 would be a great choice but if you plan on ever running a larger then 35 inch tire I'd choose the 4.56 gears. My transmission did shift back and fourth in 5th and 6th gears until I tuned it and recalibrated the spedo with that tune.

No i dont plan on running bigger tires. I was just talking to my buddy about calibrating the speedo before I spend the money on a gear swap. I honeslty havent thought about a tune or program because ford said it would void my warranty. I did replace the intake and exhaust if that matters lol. If i forgot to mention it my tires are toyo OC at2 extreme. 35x12.5x20

I run either federal Mt tires or boggers since I off road my truck pretty hard. The intake may void the warranty the exhaust will not. I've taken my truck in twice for simple issues. I just return the truck back to stock programming no one has said a thing about it maybe I'm lucky though. You'll see positive things from a tune with better shifting and you may end up happy enough to not swap gears out. That's costly if you can't do that yourself. I plan on eventually going to a 4.88 gears 4 link suspension with sold axle swap and 40s after she's paid for.

I'd go for 4.56 if youre going to spend the money on a gear swap. I put 5.13s in my bronco and never once have I said "I wish I had gone with a taller gear" You'll be much happier with the acceleration of the shorter gear.
