eco or 5.0?
i am trading my truck in on a 2012 lariat supercrew with the 5.0 with sticker of $47,100. i dont know whether i should go with a 5.0 or an ecoboost. i know there are many eco issues with shuddering and other issues. there are issues with the 5.0 as mine did. the have both on there lot. i guess it is a hit or miss chance you take!!

On any forum, you'll hear mostly about people who post problems seeking a solution. There aren't that many issues with either truck from what I am reading in the Internet wild. I bought my ecoboost for those few times I may be pulling more serious weight. Else I would have bought the V8 for a lot of reasons. PM me and I'll share them, just not here.

Drive them both, then decide. You really can't go wrong with either one. Good luck.
Oh, and the shuddering is an F150 problem, not necessarily confined to the ecoboost. Maybe more noticeable on the ecoboosts because of all the low end torque. And not all F150's have the problem.

I have the eco and wouldn't change a thing. Truck was hit in the rear and in the bodyshop now and the rental I am driving is a 2012 5.0 supercrew. I will admit the 5.0 has a meaner sound when you put your foot down on the highway but the eco has so much more torque and glides down the road. I feel like there is a trailer hooked to the 5.0 rental all the time.

I like the power of the Ecoboost. When cruising on the highway there is plenty of power to accelerate in 6th gear (60 -> 80 MPH). It's very quiet and smooth as well. I have no regrets and I've been a V8 guy my entire life. The only thing is the sound but that was a known going in. My truck flat out moves and overall it just never feels like it's struggling. I don't have to wind it out either to get moving quickly which is nice.
I would drive both and see which one you like better. If I had to do it all over again I'd get the Ecoboost.
