Thanks for the tip, just ordered a set. I modded mine with LED's back when I first got my truck, but the technology & quality appear to be much improved from when I did mine.
Well yeah, theres tons of el-cheapo fly by night off the wall brands, I just figured these were as close to a reputable (okay, don't laugh) brand as you can get for full LED puddle replacements.
Exactly what Summers22 just said. Back when I did mine, I had to use a hacksaw blade to open them up, put the new LED bulbs in and then seal them up again. Much improved light, but a real PITA to do. New, brighter plug & play lights are a win in my book.
I have hack, dremeled and cut open numerous sets, replaced the leds, sealed them back up and gotten decent results. But with these I feel like its a decent product compared to the Rayhoo, Watsoo, IHoo generic brands out there on Amazon. FYI, they are VERY bright, just installed them last night.
I went with these ones a couple years back and have been extremely happy with them. A bit more expensive, but I'm ok paying more if they're going to last. Still going strong, and plenty bright. I also like that the lens is diffused a bit so the light is spread out.
So I have been following this thread. I’d like to do puddle lights in the mirror of my 2013 XLT. I have the caps in the bottom of the mirror. How difficult is this install? I have not opened them up to check for wiring, but would assume they are probably not there. What all am I looking at to install these?
