Default E15 Vs. 91 octane?

This may be a stupid question, and since I'm no chemist or fuel guru... I'll ask it anyways. And yes, I tried searching, didnt find anything useful.

Ok.. They say E15 has an octane rating of 94, with a slight reduction in fuel efficiency due to the ethanol. So, would it be possible... or has anyone tried running E15 on a 91 or 93 octane performance tune? Or has anyone contacted a tuner and asked them?

Or would it not be worth the it due to the loss in power efficiency? Like I said, may be a stupid question, may have already been asked, but I couldn't find it, and figured I'd ask it. I'm sure I'll get flamed by one or two people anyways..

I didn't realize E15 was widely available already. Our government is really stupid. But anyway, I strongly suspect E15 will be just like E10 - available in all octane levels.

As I understand it, E15 could only be run in cars built in 2007 or later. Not in motorcycles, heavy trucks or boats. So, I hope it won't be available anywhere.

we have stations here in North West Arkansas that have E15 and E85 already.. I dont recall the cost diff. on the E15.. but E85 was $2.99 when 87 was $3.36.. which isnt worth the cost difference due to the 20% less fuel economy..

but.. i guess if it isnt really that available then it probably isnt worth discussing.

Didn't most major manufacturers recently issue a "void warranty" if you use E-15 in them?

Ford has ok'd E-15 in the 2013 model year.

Default check the owners manual

It should tell you if your vehicle is rated to run on E-15. My understanding is that only FLEX rated vehilcles prior to 2011 can run that crap without conflict with the warranty.

I would like to know if a non FLEX f150 say 2012 or 13 has it stated in the owners manual that you can run E15

Ethanol is bad fuel...the more that is in your gas the worse your mileage and performance will be. But, thats why the government wants to keep using it........revenue, buy more pay more tax

Well... based off your replies and the information posted... I'd say it was a stupid question. Looks like E15 is the Devil..
