E-brake warning light stays on
My ebrake light has been giving me troubles. After I release the ebrake the light on the dash will stay on. I will usually have to pull on the release handle a few times and it will go out. Anyone else experience this? Is it difficult to fix this?

Pull the rear wheels and inspect the release mechanism.. they get corroded.. shoot it with some WD-40 or something like that.

The TSB on this issue says to replace the rear driver side cable. It cost me $15 and cured the issue for a long while. The issue is that the cable slides inside a sheath and over time it starts to get sticky.

The actual ebrake is not sticking, it is fully releasing. The light however stays on even after fully released. I have to jiggle the release handle to get it to go off.

For most guys, the pedal looks to release and come up, but the light stays on because the pedal isn't ALL THE WAY up. The new cable fixed the issue because it's not sticky. Some guys even lube it with grease before installing to further insure that it doesn't start sticking again.

So if you pull the release handle and hold, then use your hand or foot to bring the pedal all the way up as far as it'll go, then release the handle, the light doesn't go off?
