some one here was looking at turning on the DRLs in their truck for use
today it took my dealer less than 6 minutes to turn em on. simple PCM update and bam ....they are now on.
as far as using the headlight as a trigger for something else....they beams are on a low pulse so they are not as bright as full power. so the pulse is generated by the pcm.
