I replaced my speakers and soldered the connections instead of using the ford connectors. Hasn't happened since.

I understand. Once you get that appointment scheduled, send me a private message with your full name, VIN, servicing dealership and best daytime number so I can get this escalated.

This sounds frustrating! I still stand by getting it to the dealership to have them take a look. Also, please fill me in with the model year and current mileage.

Now to replace the crackling tweeters....
What's the year and mileage on your truck, Midnightcity? I suggest, like the others, to have the dealer diagnose this.

I'm on my fourth passenger and fourth drivers side speaker in 3 years and about 145000 km... For just replaced them, inspects the harness and send me on my way. The service manager had acknowledged it's a consistent problem with no real fix, similar to the limited slip rear ends that eat clutches...

I'd like to know what the root cause of these speaker issues are. Is it the connection at the speaker that goes bad? As I mentioned, I've had my door harness replaced per the TSB but the speaker is still cutting out randomly.

The TSB says the harness is the culprit. They did not replace mine, just took the door apart, inspected it and put it back together.

I had the issue return once after having it serviced.

After that I replaced the speakers and used a aftermarket adapter harness from Crutchfield for the new speakers. I have not had the issue return.

Think it was $80 for the speakers and harness, a worthy upgrade over stock and not having to deal with the volume cutting out made it even more worth it.

Thanks BucketMan. I think that might be the way to go.

I think they were Polk DB571 speakers from Crutchfield?

If you get those there, no need to buy the adapters, they come with them even though it's not listed that way.

If no audio geek, but they are good enough for me.

Thank again. I'm up in Canada but I'm sure I'll be able to find those speakers somewhere.

Just out of curiosity, is the door a pain to open up? Is there a vapor barrier sheet inside the door? I remember those being a pain to deal with when working on door speakers years ago as they never sealed up properly again.

There are some good YouTube videos, it's not hard. There is a barrier, I had to remove it because I dropped a screw inside the door, but it stuck right back on no problem.
