I'm with you in the fact the seats in my 13 xlt are unarguably the MOST comfortable than any other vehicle I have ever owned in the last 20 years.

I have taken 2 long road trips of over 250 miles and my back has never felt less pain in doing so.

Lol...this is funny....by definition, ignorant. You have no knowledge to add to what the members are taking to in this thread, so why are you posting to it?....doesn't make sense (In case you miss that too, it's a rhetorical question). I've said it multiple times, but since it obvious people post in the threads without reading them beforehand, a vast majority do not have issues with the seats or Ford would had addressed it by now. There's a small minority that do. This thread was started to try and help those that do have issues. Posting how comfortable the seats are for you is ignorant to what to his thread it talking to. The only thing I see people gaining by doing that is racking up their post count to get in the forum cool boy club...lol.

Ok, I'm guilty of being in the "comfortable guy" club. I'm 6'1", 185 lb. I like the seats on my '13 XLT. I added some padding to the driver seat lumbar area when I installed heaters. I've done several long trips - Ohio to Montana and Ohio to New Jersey - the seats are good for me now but I think a "dead pedal" for my left foot is in order.

Maybe a block of wood or some formed aluminum or something. I want my left foot to be able to rest at roughly the same angle as my "gas pedal foot".

I have a 2012 with cloth seats. I can drive for 30 to 40 minutes and I have to stop and get out. My left left gets numb. While driving it feels like the seat does not have much cushion and I can feel the pressure from the seat frame on my left leg. I do not have a wallet in my back pocket.

Guaranty it's the suspension under the seat cushion. Went thru this myself and tried for months to fix the seat using all kinds of foam including installing a Dodge cushion. I found the springs ( suspension) beneath the cushion were not strong enough to keep your butt from sinking to far down and hurt my back. In addition the frame jsut about where your thigh is has a rise to it and when your butt sags in the cushion your leg rest against the rise in the frame. What worked for me was to reienforce the prings much like the Dodge is. The parts are cheap but the project takes the better part of a day or more depending on how good you are in figuering out how to get to everything.
If you want to try it ...e-mail me and I'll send instructions on what I did along with a couple of pictures of the springs and modifications.

I must be the lucky one.

- 38
- 220#
- *SERIOUS* piriformis syndrome and locked-down psoas muscles
- overpronation in both feet (which contributes to the above)
- L5/S1 surgery in 2005

Despite all of the above, my '13 XLT is one of the more comfortable vehicles I've owned. It could maybe have a BIT more cushioning, but aside from that, my wife and I both love it.

Sorry, but give it time... That nice firm cushion will soon break down and reveal the seat frame under your outer hip/thigh area. I'm 5'10" and 215, not much more than you, and this seat is torture.

x2. That's what happen to mine also.

The seat appears to mount on dense plastic or steal bars under the foam. While sitting in the seat it feals like my left side it riding right on this bar. I'm 250lbs and 6 foot. Big guy, but not huge in my opinion. It probably doesn't help that it's the left side and that foam gets a little more work when I get in and out of the truck.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or has anyone took these seats apart? If I reach under the right side of the foam I can feel the bar. I'm curious if I could load some dense material on top of this bar to ease the pain. Or put some more foam in the left side of the seat. Not sure what to do at this point.

The last thing I thought about was not liking the seat or having trouble in it. I have own 10 vehicles and have never has an issue like this. There just isn't a lot of foam between the driver and the bar IMO.

Any advice is helpful. Thanks.
It's a combination of weak springs and the shape of the seat frame. I found the seat on the Dodge truck very comfortable and compared it to the Ford. What I found was there was not enough support from the Ford springs ( to few of them). This lets your butt sink to far down in the seat. In addition the metal frame has a rise just about where your thigh rest. When you sink to far down in the cushion your leg rides against this rise. Bothers some on the right side, others on the left side. The cure that finally worked for me was to take the cushion apartand add some spring reinforcing wire to the springs. That way I didn't sink to far down in the seat and my legs did not ride on the metal frame. BTW...before I did all that I tried all sort of adfditional foam but with the weak springs I still did not completely solve the problem.
Would attach pictures but I don't know how. E-mail me if you want them.

Fixed mine today, I'm not sure how long this will last, but I have an 8 hour drive next weekend to try it out on. It is definitely more supportive under my ars. I used cardboard and an old exercise mat. No seat removal required, just slid this in under the foam.

My post a while
Back stated what I did to mine. It's worked ok. I plan to remove all of the internal items and replace the OEM springs with no sag #9 springs.
