I agree with you ^^ on the seat issue. I have 26,xxx miles on mine and any more than an hr or so of driving it's very uncomfortable. I find myself shifting for a better position all the time. It had been this way from day one. I am 6'4" 230lbs but I also daily drive an 85 4runner that has more comfortable seats from 1985!!

Unfortunately, I do not think the dealer is going to do anything to your stock seat that will make it more comfortable or you. I find myself not wearing a wallet if I am going to be driving for any length of time. That seems to cut down on the pain from the uncomfortable seat.

I love my ford but miss my old silverado seats.

Sorry I want more help for you

I had now developed scar tissue. Unfortunately, I'm not a surgical candidate. Now I get to live with the pain for the rest of my life. I turn 40 next year. Yea. Anyways, I just received my truck and have found the seats to be fairly comfortable. It's a matter of adjusting the seat position and lumbar support. Now other people will hate the position, but it's a matter of getting the thing adjusted so it's properly supporting you.
This. I don't mean to discount what others say, as the seats may be a tad different, people's bodies are bigger or smaller than mine (5'10" and 225#), and so on.

But as you have experienced, I also had a past L5/S1 herniation, with the difference that while I still experience some pain, it's NOTHING like what I used to. In any event, however, I too do experience some lower back/sciatica pain.

All of this being said, my new truck ('13 F150 XLT SCab with the 5.0) is one of THE most comfortable vehicles I've ever had, and I'm one of those guys who, even if not in abject pain, notices a vehicle with crappy seats within an hour of being in it.

Guys,,,
Not reading all the replys..I was a deputy for thirty three years and spent a lot of time on the road in a seat. I found if I took my wallet out of my back pocket and put a money clip in my front pocket, without a lot of the BS in it made a big change for me....Good luck....Be SAFE...

100% agree. I spent years with my wallet in my left pocket, until I realized that half the reason I felt like I was being stabbed in the butt with a knife was the wallet.

Most of the time I just take out the wallet. However, doing research online led me to the Big Skinny wallet. I think it cost me $25 - nylon, and it's about 1/3 of the thickness of my former wallet with all the same stuff in it.

(No, I'm not a salesman for it. I'm just so freaking happy that I don't live in constant pain when I have to carry a wallet that I figured I'd share.)

Thanks Kung! Who'd have thought I would find my next wallet on F150 forum! I'll try that thing - going on me Christmas list.

Ha! Never felt these seats were uncomfortable, but I can vouch for that wallet as well! Wife bought me one last year! She heard from her chiropractor that a thick wallet(not with money, in my case haha!) is a huge cause of back problems in men, and bought me the Big Skinny on a whim, i love it.

I'm 6'1" and 185 lb. I'm 54 and had lumbar disc surgery in 2006.

I love the cloth seats in my F150 XLT. They are very comfortable for my body. I recently added bun warmers https://www.f150forum.com/f38/afterm...nserts-144743/

It was easy to take the seats out and remove the upholstery for the seat heaters. It would be easy to change or add foam while the seats are out. I like plenty of low back support, so I added foam to the lumbar area adjuster.

I drove my XLT about 2400 miles in 3 days last summer. My only complaint after that trip is the lack of a left foot rest, as others have noted here. Well, a second complaint: I didn't like the middle jump seat on the XLT so I later replaced it with a console. Now my left and right arms can rest at the same level, and the console holds a lot more stuff.

It must be an individual thing because I find the seats in my truck very comfortable. I've driven the truck for hours at a time and never had a problem. In fact, I've commented a few times when reaching our destination how comfortable the truck is to drive. I have the leather buckets with heaters (2010 FX4). However, I did have to "dial in" the seat and play with the settings to get it comfortable. Especially the part the supports my thighs. Too high and it cuts off circulation. Too low and your legs are unsupported.

These seats are a problem for many of us, especially guys in the size you and I are. We're big enough to over-fill the cushion span, side-to-side, but with not quite enough lard on our butts to pad those metal bars in the seat. Skinnier guys fit into the well of the cushion and think these seats are awesome. Lardy guys span the well, and have enough padding to avoid the problem. (This is from my auto upholsterer, who has been iin business over 40 years.)

My automotive reupholsterer said he has had to rework a LOT of these new seats, and it's not easy because the bars in the seat limit what he can do.

The best he can do is strip down the seat and fill the portion between the bars with denser foam so that the driver doesn't sink quite so low. This takes some of the pressure off the sides of your thighs by keeping you higher. If you have a tall body like I do, there's a limit to how much foam he can add, as you end up with your head in the roof of the cab.

I bought a thick gel cushion and trimmed it down to fit into the cushion area between the bars. It's not a perfect solution, but helps a lot. (I tried a second cushion--which solved the problem 100%--but it raised me too high to see out the windshield.) As another poster said, removing a wallet from your back pocket also makes a difference.

These really are very poor seats, and the worst aspect of my truck by far. The pain I have experienced on longer trips is fierce.
