drivers door speaker issue, sounds blown from time to time

My front speakers have been doing this cutting out for over a year now. I am finally tired of it. I have replaced speakers before but always used the included wiring harness. Is there a wiring diagram to splice or solder the wires together or do I just match up colors? I know it sounds like a noob question, but I haven't even taken the door apart yet. I'm wanting to know how much time I need to set aside to complete. I'm no audiophile, but I do want to hear the radio.

If you order new speakers, get the appropriate adapters so you don't have to splice wires. The adapters are dirt cheap. Also, check your Sync. Often the speakers sound like crap because Sync needs updating or is having the issue and not the speakers.

I've read through this thread and my head is spinning... Is there a clear cut answer for this fix?
I have a 2014 and the drivers side door speaker was acting up. I replaced them with a nice set of Polks and a few months later it came back. Replaced the speaker again, and now its coming back AGAIN... It's still under warranty but since i've replaced the speakers with a non OEM speaker, I'm sure my dealer will give me a hard time about it.

I have not read this thread but I had this issue on both of my front speakers. The issue is the harness in the door itself. I had both of mine replaced at Carmax for free. They replaced the entire door harness, speakers and all. Fixed the problem.
Now if you want to do it right, replace the harness. If you want to try to get by with removing the few connectors for the speakers and soldering then give it a shot.

So if you have upgraded to quality aftermarket speakers, tried and then eliminated the Metra connector crap and soldered all speaker connections and the drivers side rear door speaker has no signal whatsoever, is the TSB designed to replace the harness someplace between the door and the radio module ?

The problem is not the speakers. It is the wire harness going to the speakers. Ford messed up making them. There is a service bulletin on this. Replacing the speakers will not fix the problem.

I've been dealing with this too.
Even though the Sony door speakers are a decent speaker, I still managed to get better & louder sound with Infinity Reference door speakers with of course the Metra adapter harness.
Then replaced that useless Sony sub with the Kicker. All was great till this winter, when I was getting distortion and intermittent sound from the doors only.
I took all the panels off and cleaned the connections then put Di-Electric Grease at every contact. All was back to good for about a month and a half.
Now it's acting up again.
I just don't have the motivation to take my door panels off again, so I'm getting an oil change next week at my dealer's quick lube.
It's a 14 with just over 37,000. I think it's time for that TSB, cause I've spent too much money to have it sounding like a 85 f150.
I've been avoiding going in on purpose, because I'm only one 'Hey you're back' away from my salesman of 20 year's getting me to special order a black 2018 with the fantastic 5.0 mated to the new 10 speed.

I have a 2014 F150 and it has the same exact problem (left front speaker sounds blown sometimes - sometimes fine) - took it to the dealer and they said it sounded fine - of course it would not mess up while there. What is the TSB for this harness issue? If I bring it in and refer them to the TSB will they take care of it or blow me off like last time IF it is not messing up at that moment?

Here is what I found for
FORD:
2010-2012 F-150
The article supersedes TSB 12-10-18 to update the Part List.
ISSUE
Some 2010-2012 F-150 vehicles built at the Dearborn Truck Plant and built on or before 12/1/2011 may exhibit an intermittent operation of the driver and/or passenger front door speaker(s). This may be due to a poor pin connection at connector(s) C219 and/or C237, or a faulty door speaker.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the connector C219 or C237 located at the lower A-pillar(s).
2. Inspect cavities 1 and 2 on the female side of connector C219 or C237 for terminal pins not seated. Refer to Wiring Diagram Cell 150-1 for connector views. Are the terminal pins 1 and 2 seated in the connector?
a. No - remove door trim panel and replace the front door harness. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501.05
b. Yes - reconnect connector(s), proceed to Step 3.
3. Replace front door speaker(s). Refer to WSM, Section 415-00
I don't know what they will do but hopefully yours is under warranty marc
