What's some good soap to get in Canada and a sponge that won't damage?

Sounds like you want a a basic wash procedure, everybody has different favorites but I've been using meguilars soap and waxes which work well, read some of the posts on cleaning/detail so you can get a better idea of what to do and how to do it. I used to do the rinse-soap-rinse chamois and thought I was doing a great job until I started reding what some of these other guys do. I'm not a full blown detailer like Merlin and some of the others but I am improving my methods for a better looking truck.

In other news, water is wet...

Not sure what you expect from an automated carwash, but they are awful.

I used touch less just to get the crud off if I can't get to a real wash.

Appreciate the help,
Go to Wal-Mart and head to the automotive section and load up your cart! Start off with a bucket and a nice microfiber wash mitt. I also suggest an extendable pole/mitt combo to be able to do the hard to reach areas on a large truck such as the roof. Get a nice car wash soap. Take your pick, you really can't go wrong. Anything will suffice. I personally have always had good luck with Meguiar's products. Get yourself a chamois as well to dry off the truck after you're done to prevent water spots. I like The Absorber.

Just browse the aisle and look at products for the interior and exterior. The only way you will find out what you like and what works for you is through trial and error.

Oh and lastly, STEER CLEAR OF AUTOMATIC CAR WASHES!
