Drive line Clunk
#31
Hello everyone, i'm new to posting but always am reading the posts here. So I have a 2010 F150 5.4 Crew Cab XLT and I too have had the same issues.
Yesterday I took the truck in for this issue and requested the "tech" to go on the test drive with me, since I knew they would say the normal "could not duplicate". We drove around the block from the dealership and was able to duplicate it and he noticed it as well. I have read all of the "replace the drive train, re grease the slip and yoke posts and mentioned that too him.
Upon his inspection and code runnings this is what they found and what they fixed/replaced: (This is off my receipt)
Diagnosic Code: P0732 R&R Tranmission pan, remove megatronic unit, check all clutch packs. Clean clean valve body, FOUND INTERMEDIATE CLUTCH REGULATOR VALVE STICKING, FIXED AND REPLACED.
I picked up the truck last night and drove it home and it was like a brand new truck!!! It hasn't drove this good and solid since I drove it off the lot in March. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is a done issue and it does not re-occur.
Hope this helps everyone, and whatever you do, GO WITH THE TECH ON THE TEST DRIVE AND DON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER.

Mine is a 2010 F150 manufactured in April of 2010. I have sent a letter to the dealer asking lots of questions and addressing the issue head on. My clunk going in soon for the 4th time is a bad as it always has been. I will be contacting Ford once I hear from the dealer to see if we can come to a solution and not a temporary fix.

Thanks for the post Rollin247. Maybe this will be the cure for everyone.
My 2010 XLT 4x4 used to do it every now and then. I recently took it in for the tranny reprogram to cure harsh shifting and now it doesn't happen as often anymore. No enough to bother me. I'm wondering though, if this will get worse as I put more miles on it.

What is this "clunk" that everyone is talking about? is it audible?
I notice that when slowing down, I can feel the tranny downshift from 3-2 or 2-1 and it has a very light jerk to it. is this what everyone is talking about? or something more extreme? I wonder if my issue is something that the dealer needs to look at. I have a '10 SCrew, 5.4, with 9k on it.

I just bought a used 2010 f150 screw last week and noticed this clunk/thud from stopping and taking off. Taking it to Ford on Thursday. Just wondering if you guys have had anymore problems since they worked on your trucks? I see this thread is a little dated now. Guy on the phone at Ford today acts like he never heard of this problem before.

Politically incorrect
Reb--just had my 10 Screw done. I have the 5.5 ft bed and unfortunately a 2 piece driveshaft. My truck was built 06/10 and the dealer at first did not want to address the issue (outside the VIN#). The clunk appeared around 8,000 miles--I noticed it when the truck would downshift around 25mph and when taking off.
Same band aid but it did fix the "clunk"----grease + clamps. So far, so good.
