I installed a set of drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads on my wife's previous Expedition (03). Drove it for a few months before we traded it on the 08. I had no bad experiences with them. The had much better braking than what was on it, they looked great, and had almost no brake dust. I'm going the same route on her 08 Expy in the next few weeks. The rotors are gouged up pretty bad and it has lousy brakes and tons of dust. The kicker is it is actually cheaper to get them this way (EBAY) than to go to Advance auto and buy them.

I have saw drilled and slotted rotors crack in the slots.

Now if you were on a track and were running a very aggessive pad and needed super brakes and money was no object then that would be a great choice.

BUT... they do look cool.

I agree with all you opine here!

One must also keep in mind, that since the '09 model year, Ford has had at least two upgrades on the F-150 brake systems; one in MY '10, and another (I was told) in MY '13. The changes from '09 to '10, were not only significantly more surface area, but also a new master cyl. booster unit. This is outlined in the 2010 Brochure.

I have never had any issues with the brakes in my '09; even with a lot of time, on mountain roads. I went nearly 40K before I changed the pads and turned the rotors. I imagine my new '15, will have even better brakes than the current model!
