Default Door switch wiring

I have a 2011 SCREW Platinum. This weekend I want to add some LEDs for the automatic steps. I want to wire them so that they go on and off with each door opening and closing. My question is, does anyone know which wires go to the door switches? Or even where the door switches are?

Can't say where a door switch would be, but I just put puddle lights in my 2010 FX4. These lights go off and on with door openings and closings. I assume your Platinum has puddle lights.... so why not wire your LEDs to your puddle lights?

Just a thought.......

I don't have puddle lights for the rear doors, plus I think it would look cool. All of the new amp research steps have built in lights.

But your puddle lights come on when you open your rear doors, correct? If so, you just need to run your step LEDs to the wire running to the puddle lights. And that should do it. Unless I am missing something????

I'd rather not have to run the wire all the way up to the puddle lights and I would REALLY prefer the lights to be door specific.

MY 2010 FX4 didnt have puddle lights. So I took off the front door panels and measured each pin on the mirror plug for 12 volts with the door open. I found that wire color to be purple. I cant say this is the wire color for your Platinum. But whatever color it is, it would run from the mirrors to the inside of your truck through the door harnesses. From there, you should be able to tie in LED strips without too much problem.

Here ya go......

Left Front Door Trigger Green/Purple @BCM, Gray 26 pin plug, pin 9
Right Front Door Trigger White @BCM, Gray 26 pin plug, pin 5
Left Rear Door Trigger Green @BCM, Gray 26 pin plug, pin 20
Right Rear Door Trigger Yellow @BCM, Gray 26 pin plug, pin 21

Wires should likely trigger ground when door is open.

Light Purple wire with dark purple stripe. It runs to the dome light VIA the drivers side door sill. On the scab there's a gromet under the rear door you can run wires through. That's what I did on mine when I added leds for the running boards. Excuse any typos I wrote this on my phone

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to try to tear into it this weekend. I think I'm going to find the wires buck shows, I really want them door specific.
