So, this is a SUPER helpful thread! Thanks for starting it! Mine also have a little rust/tarnish on them and it drives me crazy. @McLovin can you provide some links for the speaker covering? Also, I love how the carbon fiber trim looks that you have on the arm rest and by the door handle? where did you find those? What is that blue strip though? I have the Vermillion red and wouldn't want the blue on my truck. Looks awesome though!!!!
Thanks for the complements. The carbon fiber on the panels is just vinyl wrap. The blue “piping” is just paracord that I inserted into the gap. I have a blue and silver theme to my build.
I got the speaker cover fabric from Amazon. If I remember correctly, I searched for acoustically transparent fabric. The carbon trim panels around the switches and door pulls also came from Amazon.
Here is a link to the fabric. I’m going to cover mine this weekend. Thanks for the good idea folks!
KISSTAKER Speaker Cloth Stereo Grill Fabric Mesh Replacement for Car Audio,Stage Speakers and KTV Boxes Repair Black 57"x19.7"-Recover Your Speaker-Customized Service Available
Has anyone just painted them? If so how do you think it would look with a color? I’m about to recover my seats with black and red leather like pictured, not sure if red speaker grills would look good? What do y’all think?
I personally would go with a satin black. With your door panels being black, I think the red would look out of place. Especially if you went red and it was not the exact color red as the rest panels.
just ordered the mesh!! Did you use glue to wrap it around the edges? Thanks for the inspiration.
I laid the grille face down on the back side of the fabric and cut the fabric about an inch and a half larger all the way around. Then sprayed the back side of the grille and the exposed fabric with spray adhesive, let it tack up and then stretched the fabric over the edges. The corners are a little tricky. Do all the straight edges first working out from the center all the way to the corners then pinch the fabric together in the corners and fold over to the back side of the grille. Then just trim excess with an X-Acto knife.
My panels are the same as yours the grey and black, but I was thinking that I wouldn’t get the same exact red but thanks for the input.

update: i decided to go with the satin black krylon paint. they look minty minnnttttt and i cant wait to put them back on after they are nice and dry later this afternoon. the stereo mesh was my initial plan but i figured i'd try the $4.99 spary paint first. if they looked bad then id cover them with the mesh. the paint seems to have done a fantastic job. i made sure to apply in super light coats. 4 coats front. 2 coats back. i am pumped. amazing how such a little thing can make the interior look leaps and bounds better.
