Default Door Handles - Covers vs PTM

I am looking at upgrading my drab black door handles to match the paint. Got some gloss black covers and they look OK as is and I thought about vinyl wrapping them but the shop wants over $200 to wrap the pieces to match tux black. I thought I might use that money to try to by either get already painted tux black handles, like those that are on higher end models (Fx4 maybe?) but can't find them anywhere.
Anybody already go through this swap, either full OEM parts or a PTM cover? Pro's/Con's? The covers seem to stick out just a bit, which reveals a thin line of the drab black original handle, but maybe it's just me old eyes.

I bought OEM PTM handles from Tasca. They aren't cheap. They were in the $450 range if I recall correctly. I think I paid close to $350 to have them painted. So about $800 total, but totally worth it in my opinion.

If I had a black truck, I would have tried the handle method first, but I don't think it would have looked right on my silver. I actually planned to just swap out my XLT chrome handles for the full textrued set, but knew I wasn't going to be happy. So I splurged and got the painted handles and am happy that I did.

Tasca, I'll have to look them up, thank you. I found a "smooth" PTM handles on ebay that cost around $25 on average but am guessing they are knock off's. Who did you have to the painting, did you take it to a Ford dealer and did that price you mention include install or did you install yourself?

I'm currently prepping my door handles so I can get them painted body color. I have the textured cups with the chrome handles. My painter wants me to prep them down to 400 grit which doesn't sound bad. However, the texture is a real paint to flatten down and it's taking forever. So yeah, I'd look at buying handles that aren't textured and having them done before sanding my textured ones down.

For four brand new paint to match handles from Ford you'd be looking at around $372 plus shipping.

Don't forget your tailgate handle! In hindsight, I should have just got PTM handles instead of sanding mine down...

I've sanded and painted a few of those textured pieces myself and it is no fun.

I have the covers on mine and they look great. Cost me maybe 30 bucks for a set of 4.

Question - did you swap out or paint your bumpers? I've toyed with the idea of having mine painted (not a HUGE fan of chrome bumpers) and those look pretty sweet.
