Door Handles - Covers vs PTM
#11
That looks good, from a distance I can't tell those are covers. I'll probably end up saving a few bucks and either install as gloss black (for the $40 original cost) or wrap them in tux black vinyl to match up. Peeling some 3M has to be easier than a whole handle swap, too.
Thanks for all input on this.

Dave, would you have a link to the handles you have? These are just door handles, or do they have one for the Tgate as well. I've found some on line, but would like to make sure of some decent ones. With the pisspoor grammar, and mis-spelled words in the ads I saw, I wasn't comfortable to deal with those sellers.

Here is where I got mine from, includes tailgate cover. these are just covers, not full handles. you have to be mindful of your passenger door handle (key hole or no key hole) as well as drivers keypad. this seller has all sets if you look in his store. it was quick ship. good luck w your decision.

If they don't work out, no big deal, I've got parts that cost much more just sitting around, they're worth a shot.

I have a place downstate that does vinyl wraps in case this doesn't work out, but I truly hope it's waayyy less than $200! I'm thinking $50 would be more in the ballpark.

Price on the OEM handles must have gone down. If they are now $330 for the set, that is a pretty good savings. I paid $450. At the time I purchased mine they only had bare FX4 handles. You could Lariat handles pre-painted from Ford, but that still has the chrome strap.
I got them painted at the dealership, because I don't have the supplies or patience to paint my own stuff. Wish I did. If you can get handles painted directly from Ford or car-parts that would be really nice.
It is not hard at all to swap the handles. I did them all in under an hour in the dark. For the bumpers I bought used bumper pieces and had the same dealership spray them for me. Then I swapped all the hardware from the stock bumpers to the painted bumpers. Then I sold the bumpers and essentially have only the cost of paint invested.
