Door handle with keypad replacement
I bought my 2012 xlt that did not come with the door handle with the factory keypad. I ordered a oem with keypad and installed. Harness was already in the door so it plugged right in and there is power as it lights up like it should
Inside the glove box was the factor keypad code, even though mine did to have the keypad originally. Installation went smooth , however the keypad does not unlock the doors...it does nothing other then light up like it should. Any idea on what I might need to do next? I have read the manual and tried cycling the key / ignition tring to get them to sync. Thanks |
Leo give me a minute to search for the thread, I did the same to my 2012 XLT and mine is functional but like your didnt come from the factory that way!

Ok Leo, heres what had to be done to get the handle keypad working! You have to get the service department to change AS Built data with a IDS in Block 15 of the BCM from 726-15-01 0000 0101 45 to 726-15-01 0001 0101 46! And then your keypad code will work, my dealership charged me 45.00 to do this!

I have to take it in this week for vibration while driving, I will have them do this at the same time. Thanks

Your welcome, just make sure they give you the correct keypad code, as the code printed on the white card in my owners manual was off by a number!;)

At the dealer now and they called and said since it was not a factory option, it cannot be done. The only way to do it is to use a aftermarket peel and stick keypad. I tried to show them the post for the install when I dropped it of, but they said they will be able to take care of it. They are keeping over night to address the vibration issue I am having, so it's not a dead issue yet.
I will call them in the morning and give them the codes they need to enter and try it again ( fingers crossed ). I will keep you updated They are a big dealer and I have faith we can get it fixed. Plus they gave me a 2013 f150 EB as a loaner! |
Just an update for anyone else that runs into this issue. Dealer one said there was no module and the keypad could not be done after the factory build.
Took to second dealer who did it, but charged 1.5 hours labor. Cost me 146. I know it's a lot to pay, but this is my favorite option on my ford so I guess you have to pay to play. They said the reason it was so high was because they could not just program line 15, but had to do all lines again. I call BS! Thanks to the help on this forum I was able to get it working properly. |
