Default Don't put bigger tires on your truck FYI.

Took my 2013 F150 fx4 super crew with 2.5 leveling kit and 295/70-18 into the shop for a check engine light. Dealership adjusted tire size shortly after they were installed. They say that they put the biggest size they could in but was still smaller than my tires. Truck also has 6,000 miles on it, and tires and leveling kit have been on since the first week I owned the truck. Dealership shows me an oasis message that states, "Some 2011-13 F150 May experience a malfunction indicator lamp with DTC P0630/U0422. Verify that the vehicle is not equipped with aftermarket tires/wheels and/or axle ratio, which can cause a P0630/U0422 with aftermarket module configuration. Refer to the warranty and policy manual regarding aftermarket equipment." Dealership says nothing they can do about it. I could try to buy the correct sizes tires or a programmer that will completely void my warranty. I have talked them into trying a set of tires off a stock truck on the lot, but we will see what happens. Called Ford, and they tell me that since it has bigger tires there is nothing they have to do. Has anyone else had to deal with this?

.

I'm sorry, but I don't get it. Does it mean you will have to drive around with a check engine light? Or did something actually go wrong? Have you tried resetting your computer and seeing if it comes back?

Check engine light is always on and won't clear.

You're running roughly the same diameter tire as a stock Raptor. Not sure why they couldn't use that although it may be that you don't actually enter the tire size but a value of "pulses/revolutions per mile" in which case the value for your gearing and tire size would still be less than a Raptor since it has 4.10s...weird...

EDIT: There has got to be a GPS on our trucks and the computer compares that speed to the reading it gets from the tranny output shaft...otherwise how could it know it had larger diameter tires on it?!?! Or is it the level that causes it?

Did you have aftermarket tpms sensors installed on your rims when you got the tires put on?

My BS meter is going off something fierce. Never once have I heard of this happening nor does it make any sense. P0630 is a VIN mismatch code linked to an ECM fault and U0422 is a data error code which is a generic code when some components aren't communicating properly. Lazy or severely misinformed dealer and I would really suggest going to a different one if that is an option.

Still seems like a strange issue to me.
