Default Don't NOT 3M your truck

This is what happens to a truck that doesn't have 3M and went through a winter in Canada. Looks like hell. If you get a new truck and you have winter with sand on the roads, 3M your truck! It's worth it!

What did you pay to have the entire front end done?

I didn't get it 3M'ed but I should've. Just advising everyone to not ruin the front of their trucks and get 3m done.

I was really thinking about getting this as well!! Living in Canada with all the road yuck will do that to a finish! Lol. So how does this stuff work? How does it protect against rocks/salt etc? And what parts of the front bumper/surround should one cover?

I took delivery of my truck in late october last year and had the 3m done a week after I got the truck and before I went on any extended highway trips. The front end including bumper, leading edge of hood, and headlights still look factory new thanks to the 3m. I'm especially glad the headlights were done as I hate the look of pitted headlights (who doesnt)! I paid ~400 if I remember correctly.

It's a clear film that goes over the front, depending on how you want it done. I'd recommend if you live in canada, get the bumper, grille surround, headlights, 18" up the hood and the mirror caps. If you can do it, get the windshield done in diamond shield or 3M. I look at my windshield now and I have to get it replaced not because it's cracked, but it's been so sandblasted that it has little chips and tiny gouges all over the place. God I hate living in this climate.

Either that or buy a winter beater, LOL!

I looked into it and was quoted over $600 if I remember correctly. I know people in the collision business that would respray the front end of my truck for $600 after 5 years. Also, I heard it really looks like crap on white vehicles as it ages. Turns yellow and dirt builds up on the edges.

Are those white dots rock chips? WTF! I have chips on the front of mine but they chip black. I wish mine would chip white and I'd be set. I'll trade you rock chips!

Only thing I dont like about the 3m tape is the edges will eventually get dirt in there and look like poop. Id just have the front clip repainted and put 5 coats of dupont chroma clear on it.

Yup, they're rock chips! I'd gladly trade you rock chips for some black ones, lol.

My grandfather had a white 2001 Acura TL that had the full 3M done, and it was not until this year that it started to get a little murky. I'd just clay-bar it.
