Lulz. This thread... I guess we should start calling Mr. Schrod the almighty overlord of automobile piloting! He seems to know SO much about it already! Hell, he apparently is omnipotent too. Knowing that no matter the situation, Hardcore must be a tailgater! He's seen it with his astounding eyesight and teleportation abilities!

Have any of you guys driven on a turnpike or interstate in your brand new 2 month old truck and are WAY behind (at least 15 car lengths) a DOT snowplow that suddenly decided to turn on his trucks salt spreader?
I wanted to kill that driver! It was like my truck just got shot with a hail of shotgun shells. I saw it coming and tried to get over to the left as quickly as possible but that made it worse since the salt spreader was located on the left side of the DOT truck. Got up to him and blew my horn and gave him the finger as I needed to exit and get off on the next ramp.
When I got home and inspected the front end I found about 5 or 6 chips in the front bumper. I hate painted bumpers because I even had a few chips after only owning the truck for a week or two that got some chips in the bumper. Winter driving is a bitch here in PA in the land of salted roads. I don't follow to closely but it usually comes from cars going the opposite direction that fling rocks and salt stones at you. My old 2002 SuperCrew never had this problem with the chrome bumpers and even after trading it in with a 175,000 trouble free miles, the front end still looked good with only minor spots of chipping on painted parts.
I bought a roll of 3M vinyl from eBay in a 24" x 120" size for about 80 bucks and wish I had time to put it on this winter. But it must be at least 70 out before attempting to install that stuff. Have a garage but not heated and the truck would not fit in there anyway to give me room to install.
Have any of you guys installed the 3M vinyl film yourself? Did you take your bumper off to do it?
