Brain dead ?, I was making a friendly observation on someone's else's ride.
Been working on cars, trucks since late 1970's.
There's no bad questions, just good answers.

Did it to my FX4 after I had a nice little rock chip on the first day I had it! I didn't get 3M, but got Xpel Ultimate film instead. They're a local company in San Antonio and I decided to support them. On top of that they have a 10 year warranty on yellowing, cracking, peeling, hazing, etc. with material AND labor. Going on 2 years with it and no problems. Does show some swirl marks, but they gave me some wax for that and it gets rid of it pretty well! Hefty investment at $700 for the entire front end (lower bumper, grill surround, hood, front fenders, fender flares and mirror caps), but with red candy metallic paint, it's paid off in peace of mind of not having white marks all over the front.

It's a clear film that goes over the front, depending on how you want it done. I'd recommend if you live in canada, get the bumper, grille surround, headlights, 18" up the hood and the mirror caps. If you can do it, get the windshield done in diamond shield or 3M. I look at my windshield now and I have to get it replaced not because it's cracked, but it's been so sandblasted that it has little chips and tiny gouges all over the place. God I hate living in this climate.
Either that or buy a winter beater, LOL!

I never tailgate. My impression is that you live somewhere where the roads are never treated with sand and salt.

I would have to back him up as a fellow Albertan. Even if you keep your distance, people ahead of you change lanes and drive through the little windrow of slush and gravel. That **** kicks up pretty good and they use a lot of gravel here. I've been hit in the windshield numerous times from this alone, I can only imagine how many times my bumpers get nicked. First winter with my truck though, I am curious once cleaned up in the spring how bad it is.
