Bakflip G2 owner here. We don't see too much heavy rain where I live but through whatever rain we have had along with a high pressure brushless car wash about once a week, I have zero water except for a few drops around the tailgate step which isn't the covers fault IMO. I took a good look at the install and the dealer shimmed the rails all the way up the bed rails. I don't know if that's the difference but I can say that it is dry. He even suggested not installing the tubes because he has never installed one that has leaked.

In January, I ordered a F1 from a board sponsor. The cover arrived a few weeks later direct shipped from BAK. It took 15 min to install, very simple and straight forward.

After a few days and several rains, the cover leaked just like the orginal poster. Drips along all the seams going across the bed. Heavy leaking at the corners. The rails truly need a drain tube at the tailgate area. This cover was manufactured in December if my memory is correct.

I contacted BAK and they replaced the cover. No questions. No hassle. No drama.

The replacement F1 was made in October. It does not leak like the first cover. It leaks on one particular joint between two panels and only in one spot.

I think its about as good as it is going to get. I got the F1 to keep my luggage protected and relatively dry but also to allow full use of the bed. There is no way to keep the tailgate corners dry unless you have an over the rails cover. The 2nd cover actually does better than the first in keeping the rear corners dry.

I do see that the cover buffets at interstate speeds as another has observed. I got under the cover in the bed and you can push up on the cover and see light through the sides. The buffeting occurs because the lid is secured at only one end of the panels and they are joined with a rubber seal.

BAK is working on new designs which dont' have external seams. In a year or two, I may sell this cover and upgrade.

The functionality of this cover is exceptional and now that I have an "acceptable" level of water intrusion, I would have a hard time switching to another cover.

To the original poster, contact BAK. They should take care of you.

Thanks for posting. I plan to call Bak tomorrow. As luck would have it, it is supposed to rain again tonight, so I may pull the truck out onto the driveway, for another test.

Haven't noticed ant leaks o speak of, but both of the rivets on the top that hold the little d-rings are rusted.

i've noticed this too. Mine's been through a Canadian winter and it really only leaks at the tailgate at the carwash, otherwise it drains nicely through the drains at each end. My stuff seems to stay nice and dry.

Put my Bakflip HD on about a month after I bought her and never had any leak issues. I did not install the drain tubes either (didn't see the point since and water from the rails should drain out of the seam at the front of the bed).

Well, it just had its second test. It rained kinda hard on it for about 5 minutes, then light but steady for about 20 minutes. My batteries went dead in the camera after this pic, so I will have to get some more to take pics of what I find....

Ok. Its confirmed. I will call Bak Industries on Monday to see what can be done. It leaks more than I can live with. This was after a brief 25 minute rain shower. Looking at where the hinges are wet and dripping inside, I think the leakage is a combination of the panels not being sealed into the aluminum panel frames, and it is allowing water to work around the hinges, and dripping into the bed. The water inside the hinges is also running to the sides, and some onto the rubber gutter bumper (then into the gutter as it should), and some drips down off the panels, before getting into the gutter bumper. You can see the photos of the wet open hinges, and water standing on top of the inner rubber bumper rails as proof this cover isn't working right. Water shouldn't be in those areas if the panels were sealed in the frames.

Again, I could live with and understand some water at the corners of the bed. But, water dripping in the middle of it, and all over the wheel wells, after only a brief 25 minute shower, is not what I was expecting.

I sent an email to Bak customer service on Friday, regarding my problem with the cover. Included all of my info, to include my phone number. I wanted to start with the email, instead of a call, so I could include a link to this thread, so they can better understand the exact level of leakage, and view the pictures.

I immediately got an autoresponder confirmation email, that said they received my email and that they respond to all emails within 24 hours...(normally it is within 1 hour), 7 days per week.

Well, its day 4, and I've not heard from them. Sigh. I will try a phone call tomorrow if I get time in the afternoon.
