Default Does tire size affect 2013 Navigation?

I am at my dealer, who has always been awesome, with a navigation problem. The truck is rarely shown on the road. The dealer surprised me and said my undersized snow tires are to blame. Pretty sure I had the problem before I put them on, but that was before an update too.

He just drove it 15 miles and proclaimed it fixed. Fingers crossed, but I am doubtful.

Thoughts?

i don't think that will make a difference. the gps should have it's own intenna to tell it where it is.

nothing to do with the tires.

He said he told the computer about the smaller tires. That may entail a reset too. I have searched and did not see a reset procedure. Could you tell me how?

Ask him to explain to you how GPS systems work. Should be an interesting story.

it does use tire size and possibly steering wheel input for slow speeds, change of direction or temporarily out satellite signal. but once driving it uses the gps antenae takes over.

from ford

Navigation
The navigation system guides the user to a pre-entered destination. Map data is read from the map data SD card plugged into the media hub. The APIM calculates route information based on GPS data received by the GPSM . The APIM also uses vehicle speed and transmission gear selected signals received through the network to detect vehicle speed and direction, resulting in more accurate navigation tracking. The navigation display is shown on the FDIM .

I think the new MFT has issues. Well I know it does. Mine has not worked since day one. Bought it nov 3rd and it now has 3500 miles, been to the dealer twice and recalibrated, reflashed and still is off by over 200 to 300 ft. at times. Won't show point of interest anymore or even offer it on the menu. 2 weeks ago they ordered a new sensor for it that actually is the main piece that tells the system where the truck is. Well its still not here yet and who knows if it will really fix the issue. Hopefully it will be ok after this however if not this will be the 3rd try for them to fix same issue and officially puts it on the lemon law for Ohio...

are all the roads off by that much? could also be a map data issue? i still doubt that the tire size had much to do with it. it should be relying on the gps antenna
