Does having an XLT make me look like an old man?
Hi guys,
Just wondering if having an XLT with the chrome package makes people think I'm an old man. I guess my thinking is that the FX4 looks more like a young man's truck. While a lariat or higher trim definitely looks like an old man truck. I'm only 35 for the record. Some of this is probably this sites fault. I've been looking at new trucks and am favoring an FX4 over an XLT just because I want all of the nice stuff plus the looks of an FX4 although I want cloth seats and no moon roof or navigation. |
no. next question

No. I was 27 when I bought my XLT.

i see what you're saying about all the additional chrome the XLT's have. I personally like all of the PTM pieces the FX trim level comes with. You can opt for cloth and no roof/nav in an FX trim, i did.
As long as you don't add any chrome i think you'll be ok. If i would have gotten an XLT it would have gotten PTM handles and mirror caps at the very least. |
I would have loved the FX4, but old or not, I had to get what I could afford. And that was an XLT. I'm not a huge fan of the chrome, but it has grown on me a bit. I have a silver truck mostly because the chrome clashed the least. But hell, I put a camper shell. So I guess I have two strikes now.

I'm 36, got my 2011, XLT, 5.0 with the "Max Chrome Pkg" not by choice, but because it was a ridiculous deal when I picked it up. My wife always called is "Grampa's Old truck" Lol, mostly because it had so much chrome everywhere.
It's funny, I traded my truck in at my local dealer. I still see the fella who purchased it, driving around my town here and there. He's definitely got 30 years or more, age wise on me at least. Not going to lie, I always had a complex about it, that's why when I decided to get my '13 FX4, I had her full blessing. |
Well, the guys who don't have an F150, or even a lower trim level are probably thinking "Wow. Must be nice".

LOL I'm 35 and love my chrome-y truck. It's all personal taste. I prefer some chrome over everything being PTM. PTM is the current trend, is all. I won't add additional chrome, as I've seen it done and think it looks tacky but I think Ford has used a good amount of chrome. Just get the truck you want, so you won't have a complex. It would suck to have a beautiful truck and not be able to enjoy it.

Unfortunately, my smart aleck wife has started calling it "The Silverado" because of it's color. :censored: Tim |
