Does anyone know why my spindle is so close to the drivers side.

Something is bent or the bearing is bad I would get it looked at befor it breaks or cuts up your tire

I doubt it. If it was seated all the way from the get go it wouldn't have loosened up and not be seated properly. The balljoint may have failed from hitting a pothole too hard. But the only way a spacer would have anything to do with that is if the balljoint wasn't properly torqued down after the spacer install.
