does anyone else hate Nav System?

I like many have a love hate relationship with it. Some times it works some times it doesn't! Been on the phone with the Sync Hot Line and they have no clue. They suggested I take it to my dealer and I did! They have no clue. Said every thing was perfect! I leave the dealership and it starts acting up again! Sync is "Sunk" Frankly I don't need.

Nav update is a necessity for 2010 Platinum
It appears that there has been a lot of updates since 2010. If anyone knows a REASONABLE update source, please advise. It is hard to believe that a system can become so outdated in such a short time.

Navigation.com has the update for Ford from Navteq - Software update and map update 6.0x.
I just updated my system (for $199 + $29 shipping to Canada) the other day. It consisted of four DVDs. First two were system update and the other two were for maps update for Canada, USA and Mexico. Total POIs 4,425,051. It also included gracenote for CD jukebox database. The process took around 4 hours.

Does anyone know when the latest map came out?
It says version 6.0 on the site and that their is an update for my 2012.
So I am assuming its fairly recent update?
But does anyone know for sure, I don't want to buy the update and then have a newer version come out in a few weeks.

The 6.0X came out in at the end of February 2013. They are released once a year. It updates software and maps. Maps for USA, Canada AND Mexico are included as well as gracenote for jukebox. I think that's why the $199 price tag.
The system in my 2012 lariat was at 4.1X when I purchased it in August 2012 in Canada.
As for the built in system versus portable I think the build in system is superior.
The factory system in Ford (HDD based from Clarion) uses the built in compass for proper map orientation when the vehicle is stationary. Let me try to explain it. All portable systems I used suffered from "spinning map syndrome" as I call it. Unless you drive at a certain speed just after system starts the map orientation is not correct. This becomes a problem when you are on a parking lot. You start the vehicle and enter your destination. You'll see the route on the screen, but don't know which way to go unless you drive several meters (this allows the portable gps to acquire the direction your truck is facing)Hence the compass integration on ford factory navigation is superior I think.
I think the integration with the vehicle is the main selling point of factory nav system. I don't have the experience with My Ford Touch, but HDD based system in 2012 f150 is almost perfect. And yes, I have a degree, so using it is not a problem

Is there a way someone can borrow the update cd's and install them on another vehicle? If so someone could make some nice change doing it. I would not mind giving 50 to 75 to rent them.
