If it points straight down its probably set for trailer hookup?? If you have mft touch the top right side of screen..it will give a different view

It's almost completely useless when it's been raining out since it almost always has water on it. I generally try and use my mirrors (mostly right mirror since i'm always backing in that way) and then the sensors to tell me how close I am. Also the reverse lights are fairly useless so I'm always having to ride my brake ever so slightly to keep my brake lights on to see.

Nope, 2012 here with the regular stereo. If there are any setting pertaining to it on my dash, I haven't found 'em. Thanks though!

Just picked up my truck yesterday and tried out the backup camera a few times. I like it a lot for looking where I can't see and helping to judge distance. But I feel it's a supplement to normal backing-in procedure of using mirrors and shoulder checking.

I hadn't realized how much I depend on it until last night, when I had to parallel park in the rain and the camera was useless due to the lens being coated with water/mist.

You mean I'm supposed to look at the mirrors as well as the camera?

I love the camera. I still use my mirrors some like when backing out of a driveway but always check the backup cam for objects I don't want to hit. It's giving you a clear image behind you with no real blind spot, what's not to trust? I now drive a f250 with limo tint so it definitely helps, especially at night.
