Do not but FoMoCo Wheel well liners
#61
You should be fine doing it yourself if all the tabs etc arent bent. the main reason I had issues the entire things were warped and the drivers side seemed to not be "tall" enough, they are great once I got them in,however, if you are older and have issues wrestling on your back while doing a cartwheel and lining up bolt holes while cooking a sirloin to medium rare , I recommend having them installed
These liners are ABS plastic aka a thermoplastic. Some years ago I was vaccume thermoforming ABS over molds. ABS is tough as hell, you can beat on it with a hammer.

Okay you made me go out to the garage and look over the Ford wheel well liners I purchased from the dealer last Friday. 3 of 4 tabs are square, one is bent inwards. It shouldn't be but a heat gun will fix that in a couple of minutes if need be, I can bend it square with moderate effort so it may not be needed. If the others were bent and or the liners were warped I'd return them for an exchange.

Nick, you were more ambitious than I. I bought a set of Rugged Liners right after they came out for the F-150's, and before Ford offered them. I ask, and the guy said they were EZPZ to install. I then ask how much he would install them for, $20. I said, you mean I can stand here, have a cup of joe, and you'll do it for a twenty spot....damn that coffee was good. I like them, and they do protect as well as clean up the crap showing behind the rear tire.
BTW, ain't it funny how folks say, "It's your truck, do what you want". Then have some of the oddest opinions to the contrary.
Also, good luck with the ROTC. I was AFJrROTC, then was moving on to college ROTC. Uncle Sam had other ideas as VietNam was rockin'. Went to join the "Chair Force" . Then all of a sudden the crap was over. Lucky me.

This post scared me when I saw it this morning! I got a set of the OEM Ford Wheel Well liners for Christmas from my wife. I saw the post and thought to myself, oh crap...
Well, good news, I installed them today. They went in as easy as pie. I couldn't be happier. I'm sorry to hear the OP had problems or got a bad set. But to anyone else considering the OEM's, my review would be that they look great and go in pretty smooth. There are a few tricks, but if you considering these liners I recommend watching some how to videos on You tube before getting started. Those really helped me.

Apologies if I'm not grasping something right now, not quite sure the meaning of the phrase "with a grain of salt" could be too young?

In Dale we trust.
So what have we learned from this thread? Apparently some people get real pissed if you do something in a different way than them.
I personally ordered wheel well liners because that gap looks like ****. Personal preferences guys, calm down. Don't get your jimmies russeled over nothing, you're a big boy now.
