Do All 2013 FX4's come with skid plates standard?
I'm asking because I bought my 5L last December, and never really paid much attention. My buddy at work has a 2013 FX4 Ecoboost, and he was telling me his had hung down at one point and the dealer reattached it, but that I should keep an eye on mine. When we looked at it there was no skid plate, and he figured I'd probably lost it. I went to the dealer and they looked it over and told me that mine never came with the skid plate. I looked at various sites including the promotional ones for Ford, and they all show the FX4 package as having full skid plates. Any input would be appreciated, I just want to make sure I have what the package I paid for was supposed to come with.

I've also got a Canadian 2013 FX4 and it has the skid plates. It even shows up on the window sticker. Add your VIN to the end of this URL and see what it says in the upper section under 'standard equipment', 'Functional' column. http://www.inventory.ford.com/servic...icker.pdf?vin=

Sounds like you are referring to the Ecoboost "diaper". All FX4s should have a metal skid plate up under the engine but only Ecoboosts have a fibrous secondary plate more back near the trans. 5L trucks do not have this secondary plate. It has absolutely zero structural integrity & you are not missing out on anything; it is just for aero I would assume. The secondary is held up by quarter turn fasteners & easily & often hangs down.
