Not sure if things changed after 2009, but on my 2012 XLT SCrew the reverse wire is light blue with a yellow tracer and is located in the driver's side door kicker. I tapped there for my monitor and then ran up through the dash. For ground I went to the frame inside the driver's kick panel.

I didn't go wireless though. You'll wish you hadn't. Don't ask how I know this.

Thanks for the reply. I know the wire to the actual b/u light is blk/green tracer at the bulb,,,,,,but can't find it anywhere else. I'll look and see if I can find your "light blue w/yellow tracer" at the kick panel. I wired my camera to the trailer connector. Since I only have the rear wired, I might still change it and run a 12v wire from the rear, along with a video cable. I've wasted a lot of time already just looking for THAT wire.

I know this is an old thread but I just got around to hooking up my camera and have a few question. I went with the tailgate handle camera and a wireless transmitter. I wired the camera and transmitter to the driver side rear backup bulb. The reciever has a cigarette lighter plug for it's power but I want to wire it to the backup wire, so this way it only comes on when going in reverse. I looked around and found some posts telling the wire color and location but I couldn't find it on my truck. I have a 2013 STX with tow package. Would anyone know the wire color and where it is?
Thanks

Default back up camera

Hi, don't know color on 2013. If you wired the camera to the backup bulb, that would be the same color wire you should be looking for to connect the camera. Gently, pry up the "plastic door step" on the floor under drivers door. Whole bunch of wires running in channel under it. Be careful,,,,,,,small plastic fasteners push into metal holes. If you don't see it there, look at the bottom of the drivers side windshield pillar, near the floor, for the backup wire.

Thanks for the reply, I went ahead and ran the wires from the back to inside the cab. I did a quick look for the wire under the driver side kick plate but didn't see anything that looked like it may be the one. The camera is up and running.

I finally bought the parts for this last night. Should arrive in about a week.

I'm pretty excited to get this installed.

Default 2011 Camera / Display screen install.

Master Tailgaters handle w/camera and a 4.3" LCD from eBay. Larger power wire ran from camera along with the video cable to the inside of the truck. Power is tapped from the blue reverse light wire in the harness on the passengers side near the kick panel. It only comes on when the truck is put into reverse. It cost a bit more than some only because I bought the handle/camera combo for $99 and the screen was $19.
