Um unless you have solid rims it's pretty easy to see the inside of a rim after the tire is on. I have spoked rims and I can easily see the weights on the inside of my rims that balance them. If somebody put a scratch there it would be pretty easy to see IMO!

It could be, I agree. I think jcain was thinking about "under" the tire, sort of a misunderstanding IMO.
It depends on the rims if an inside scratch is visible much or not. But since the OP complains, I'd assume it is visible. I would like to see a picture if possible.
