I got a price quote from an online retailer and will be heading to Discount Tire tomorrow to speak with them in person. I spoke to them on the phone about price matching and were super helpful. They will price match and even though I couldn't find them carrying Fuels online, they called them direct and said they would be able to get them for me in a few days. I will let you know how things go.

I just chatted with DTD about price matching and Fuel wheels. Negative on both. They said that Fuel Offroad wheels do not show in their database and can't get them for me. On price matching, it's only the 'bigger' online retailers (TireRack, etc.) I mentioned Mr. Wheel Deal and told them how they work. They said they need to actually see a price on their website (Mr. WD) and an e-mail quote would not work. Time to go into my local DT again and start bargaining AGAIN

I'm guessing DT is a franchise and you could get different experiences from different locations... the 2 i've been to in San Antonio have been good to me and actually matched some ebay prices I found (well not matched but if you take into account mounting and balancing I came out ahead even with paying tax)

Guess again...

Q: Does Discount Tire offer franchise opportunities?
A: Discount Tire is a privately owned organization. Therefore, there are no franchise opportunities available.

I am going through DT and not DTD in Madison Wisconsin. I originally got the quote from Mr. Wheel Deal which I don't like the fact I can't see the prices online and have to email them in order to get a quote, they were by far the cheapest I found. DT here in Madison said all I would need to do is bring in the emailed quote and they will work with me. I want to stay local and that way I have a better opportunity if I have issues with the rims and tires down the road. Like I said, I will be going tomorrow to speak with them in person to get the final word but said on the phone they would match the price and work in the shipping cost. Let me know how your experience is with DT in your area.

If you don't know, you probably shouldn't say anything. Sorry to sound like a dick but don't through out incorrect info. Discount Tire Direct and Discount Tire(along with America's Tires in California) are the same company. Also the stores have the same and even sometimes more ability to work on prices with you. You can setup a mount and balance with Discount Tire from Discount Tire Direct OP.

Correct, Discount Tire is a privately owned company by Bruce T Halle. It is a great company to work for as well, and you'd be really surprised to see what some of the managers at the "high" volume stores make. Some of the store managers in San Antonio bring home over 300K a year.

I do not currently work for Discount Tire, but I have in the past and still have a large number of family and friends that work for the company.

For those that may not know as well, Discount Tire will do free flat repairs(if your tire is repairable) even if you have not purchased tires from them. They also offer free air checks if you just pull into the very first bay nearest the show room. Sit in your car and they will get you taken care of. No more messing with the 50 cent gas station crappy air pumps.

They have stores all over the Southwest, all in the areas I travel for work and leisure. They are good at service, pricing and marketing. I have purchased all of my tires and aftermarket wheels from them for all of my vehicles for the last 20 years.

I have had a few complaints. I think the kids that they have working for them get a little carried away with trying to be the fastest and have nicked the wheels and tore up the lugs while using the air hammers.

Tax records show discount tire made 3.7 billion in 2013. I'm going to start a tire shop now guys.
