Disappointing MPG from "New" 2013 Ecoboost

Still seems a bit low.
A couple things I have found about the ecoboost, around town my mileage is terribble...12-13 range but my daily commute is only 2 miles. On the highway it gets 20.5 if I drive < 70mph AND the truck is up to full operating temp. It takes about 15 miles before my transmission gets up to 195. Cold weather, thick fluids lead to increased load/boost, that is no bueno for mpgs.

I just drove like a frozen goat going up an ice mountain for over 600 miles non stop up and down mountains from PA to NC, one tank, never going over 2k RPM, in some cases people were pissed at me, and the best I saw was 16.7 MPH somewhat the hyper mile method of look at that stupid driver driving so slow on the FREEWAY @ around 50MPH - 90 down hill. It's all but dangerous really, felt like a tractor trailer, so after that test, will go back to my 15-16 MPG it's not worth the .7 gain lol. The worse part was a $100+ fill up afterwards. Ouch

If you read back far enough, this has been talked to death.
No, the eco doesn't really give you V6 mileage all the time, what it gives you is good power, and a nice big torque curve.
But look back at the 10mpg wonders we drove years ago, and you wont feel too bad!
My buddy had a 95 F250 with a 460, and it was rated at about 250 hp, and averaged 7.55 mpg.
You are pushing twice the mileage, and over 100 more hp!

Get a bare bones single cab F150 with manual windows and I think we'd be surprised at the fuel economy it can get.

As another point of reference...
In the midwest...I used to average 13.5mpg with my bone stock '97 4.6 Triton SCAB 6.5. The lifetime average from my bone stock '11 3.5EB SCAB 6.5 (3.55) was about 16.8mpg. I did about a 50/50 mix of highway and city with both trucks (only sporadic hauling).
One thing was certain, I could never come close to the max mpg I would occasionally get in the '11 with my '97. With a tailwind on the interstate, I could get just over 20mpg on a 3hr drive with the 3.5EB. With a head wind in that same truck, I was lucky to get 16mpg. I agree, tires (size, tread, pressure) play a huge role in your fuel mileage...not to mention other truck/trim mods.

They have their benefits. If you are getting terrible mileage compared to others, then you know something is wrong with your truck. Without these threads people don't know what mileage they should be getting. I was able to gain back about 3-4mpg because I was getting worse than normal. Threads like these helped me figure out what to look for (throttle body and maf (map?) sensors needed to be cleaned.)
But if you are just complaining about normal mileage and you did 0 research before you purchased your truck then that is on you.

Lol me too. There are so many variables. Anyone not running a stock sized tire has no clue what their real mpg is anyway (unless of course they have their speedo corrected with a tuner or do the conversion). I take it all with a huge grain of salt.

I don't know what planet these people are all from who say they get 18mpg driving in city...but anyway first thing I'd do seeings you bought the truck used and arean't too sure of service history (maybe someone already suggested this) but I'd change the spark plugs.
Direct injection engines tend to foul plugs a lot easier and more often than not. I change mine every 2 years and MPG always goes up afterwards.
I don't really give a **** about mpg unless its unrealistically low. I bought my truck to tow and haul and thats what I do.
