Ding on Roof with paint chipping/flaking
Hello all, Well it's a windy day today and I didn't roll my tonneau cover up with its broken latch. So I'm driving down the highway just fine I look back, "meh, yeah it's holding up fine.." And I finally go to pull over to roll up it up, the wind picks the tarp up and throws it up over my roof...
So the dent isn't Horrible but its a noticeable pinch and the paint is flaking off from it. I see about 3 options...
1. Leave it as is drive it, its a truck
2. Take it to the body shop and pay a $500 deductible
3. Try and touch it up myself with a $15 bottle of touch-up off eBay.
or maybe 4. Trade it
Might look better in person, maybe worse.
Thoughts?

If you decide to get it repaired in a body shop I wouldn't even go through insurance it's not worth putting a claim through for such little damage I can't see that even costing $500 to fix so you have to foot the bill anyways.

Thanks, the last time I was there for a paint damaged dent on a door he wanted to charge me over $1000... I just had him pop it and I left. So I can't really imagine him wanting to work on the roof panel like that.

I wasn't trying to come across as disrespectful it doesn't look like an expensive job to pop that out and repair. Even if it were say $700 and your deductible is $500 that $200.00 you save will be paid back x5 in increased premiums due to a claim or at least that's the way it works in Canada. I stay clear of any insurance claim unless it's in the thousands of dollars. Hopefully it never happens but save your insurance claim(s) for something more catastrophic IMO.

Re: " 1. Leave it as is drive it, its a truck "
You might regret that choice come time for trade-in / resale. Fixing the little things can speak loads about how well you care for and maintain the rest of the truck.
What do I think when I see a dented, ratty-looking car driving down the road? Either that person didn't carry insurance or just doesn't care about keeping it nice.
If it isn't important to you, okay, but you're asking for opinions, so I'm guessing it is important. These trucks aren't cheap. Might as well keep it sharp as long as you can and get as much back out of it when the time comes... JMO.
